It’s a terrible-wonderful thing to create. With a poof — there it is — complete in all its perfection. But to wring it out and bring it into the world takes, me personally, anywhere from three weeks to four months. And it’s never as perfect as imagined.
I’m done with the essay. And will be for a while. I’ve said everything that the format allows me to, that I wish to, and that my experiences allow me to say; so it’s time to move on.

My friend soured his face. He whipped up an ingenious, savory, creamy dish like the Arborio rice risotto, but with the more commonplace ingredients at hand.
