Restaurant Review: Punjabi Roots

There has been a population boom in Powai in the past few years, the several residential complexes have grown and so have the commercial spaces in and around Powai, this population boom majorly in the commercial spaces has brought about an increase in the number of delivery and take out joints in the vicinity.

Punjabi Roots is a new entrant in the delivery game and fills the void of authentic Punjabi Food in Powai. This vegetarian restaurant is started by an experienced duo who have been in the restaurant business for over two decades now and have previously ran several Smokin’ Joe’s franchisees in Mumbai.

This take out joint serves a wide variety of Punjabi Food but is best known for their Kulchas, which are like stuffed tandoori rootis. The Kulchas dished out of this restaurant are lip-smacking and delectable, they serve it with a side of Chole and Salad and it is a meal in itself. What really sets this restaurant apart from the rest is the way the food is packaged, never has it been so easy to consume Indian food, people order in Pizzas for the ease of the consumption and disposal, the enterprising owners have given this a lot of thought and made Indian food super convenient to eat, the Kulchas here are packed in Pizza boxes and the sides in separate plastic containers, in a busy suburb like ours, these small little things make our life simpler and are highly appreciated.

It is really difficult for new entrants to strike all the right chords right off the bat, but surprisingly this one strikes all them at a very affordable price, Punjabi Roots is priced very modestly priced and should be suitable to all pockets.

The restaurant’s tagline says, “Food that makes you go Balle Balle”, I kid you not, it really does!
PROTIP: The Cheese Garlic Kulcha here is a must try.
