TATA NEXON SUV LAUNCH CONFIRMED, GETS NEW POWERTRAINS
Wiley India MUMBAI: Tata Motors is all set to launch its new Nexon SUV this year before Diwali. Ahead of its roll out, the company today introduced two new engines and a gearbox for the upcoming car.
Wiley India The new powertrains include a 1.2-litre petrol from the Revotron series and a 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Revotorq family. Tata says that these motors are performance-oriented and offer higher fuel efficiency and performance.
Wiley India The Nexon is the short form of ‘Next-On’ and signifies next level of things. The Nexon made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016, the company said in a release.
Wiley India Designed at Tata Motors’ in-house facility in Pune, the engines have been indigenously developed with inputs from renowned global technology suppliers like AVL, Bosch, Mahale and Honeywell, the company said.
Wiley India While the Revotron engines will be manufactured at the Sanand facility, the Revotorq engines will be produced at the Ranjangaon facility, the company added.
Wiley India On the occasion, Mayank Pareek, president of passenger vehicles business unit at Tata Motors, said, “We are not leaving any stones unturned while we prepare to launch the all new Nexon.”
Wiley India “Both these engines have been designed and developed after extensive feedback from auto enthusiasts, expert drivers, followed by extensive testing across India, on different terrains,” he said.

Wiley India He also said that the new engines will be light in weight and low on friction, delivering high performance and fuel economy.
Wiley India The four-cylinder diesel engine will offer a maximum power of 110 ps at 3,750 rpm, and a maximum torque of 260 Nm at 1,500–27,50 rpm, while the three-cylinder petrol engine offers a maximum power of 110 ps at 5,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 170 Nm at 2,000–4,000 rpm.
Wiley India The new transmission — TA6300 — offers synchromesh with overdrive and comes with six forward gears and one reverse.
