To be honest, it doesn’t seem all that difficult to get in the habit of going out in public with the additions of simple facial prosthetics. Not to counter legitimate law enforcement, but simply as a protest against the most personal of intrusions. I thought of this in less than a minute.
Surely I’m oversimplifying, but if my own friends wouldn’t recognize me, would facial recognition software that already has a 15% error rate? Surely it couldn’t be made illegal to change one’s appearance. It’s done every day in a limited manner with makeup and more significantly with cosmetic surgery.
Seems like lots of money to be made, and the government would have a hard time blocking free enterprise. Especially our current one. And of course there’s the 4th amendment…..
