The work environment at Forcit Benelux made me feel welcomed from day one. I was impressed by the new and modern office landscape. The collaborative workplace can be used for brainstorming sessions, group projects, meetings and more, depending on the specific needs of our team.

Forcit is a small but also big organization, It is a young but mature scale up.

Forcit is big and mature in the sense that it has close collaborations with larger brands and independent experts. I am glad that I have done my internship at Forcit. The team members were positive, understanding and encouraging. I had the opportunity to work flexibly and learn at my own pace. I learned to work independently but at the same time I enjoyed participating in a team. Teamwork enabled better communication and more cohesion in the tasks we did. …

Out of research from a lung surgeon it seemed that there are still negative elements coming forth out of the current generations of face masks. Which triggered the question and need for more intelligent, smart face masks. For integrating state of the art technology into user friendly, comfortable masks.

Innovation trajectory, smart face mask

Forcit takes the initiative in creation of Smart face masks which are safer and more comfortable to use

This innovation trajectory was a response to the request of a Belgian vascular-lung surgeon who sought a way to eliminate the practical inconveniences of face masks for doctors. According to research results, face masks can be uncomfortable, misused, irritable and make communication difficult.

Smart face masks which have been prototyped in a joint collaboration between Forcit Benelux and Holst Center in Eindhoven (TNO & imec), initially targets the professional medical world and features the combination of technology and ease of use.

Forcit predicts a promising future success for this project because the momentum is there, the market is ripe, the business plan is foolproof and the expertise and technology are available.

Organizations keep getting better at finding ways to involve their employees in their processes and gather their ideas. However, it is now important to realize that it’s crucial to capture the right ideas and to figure out how to do that.

We talked with Koen Vingerhoets, blockchain expert, who is currently working at Deloitte as Senior Innovation Manager. His goal at Deloitte is to use the knowledge within the organization and install a culture of innovation based on the broad knowledge that they have inside. It’s also one of his tasks to build processes that gets the most out of people.

In the exploration phase, Koen says, it is important to make the limit as big or broad as possible. This way you discover the greatest combination of possible problems or solutions and try to truly understand the underlying challenges. The challenge after that is to not just reduce the possibilities necessarily to as small or few as possible but rather to reduce them in a very precise way and define the problems or solutions as well as you can. …

While the current crisis situation for many brings mostly negative effects, there are also positive takeaways and things we can learn from this. Working remotely can also bring a multitude of advantages such as higher productivity and efficiency. In this article we’ll go deeper into the underlying challenges that innovation teams, ventures and experts face and how we go about tackling them.

You probably heard already from more general/standard tools and methods for working better remotely in teams:

Communication tools like Slack, Zoom, Hypersay
Creativity tools like Miro, Moqups, Blackbird
Organizing tools like Asana, Trello, Jira

At Forcit we are even going a bit further than our friends above. We focus more specific on “innotech” solutions for:

Innovation teams

Ventures (start-ups, scale-ups)

Independent experts

For innovation teams and ventures:

If you are used used to work with (external) experts to do day-to-day innovation activities such as physical workshops or meetings like ideation sessions, design sprints, user-validation, user-interviews, … It is quite a challenge to transform these activities into a remote session. Therefore we created solutions at Forcit that are able to have at least the same level of creativity and even more efficiency and impact.

In an environment that still desires to get results and also demonstrate commercial results we realize the importance and need of having a solution that makes it easy to keep an overview of your ongoing project and communicate in an organized manner. Similarly, being able to create reports without having to use a plethora of different software or tools, allows for the speed of innovation to be protected and work in a structured, efficient way. …

Innovation and the perception of it have changed drastically over the last two decades. Back in the day, most organizations didn’t pay much attention to it. In fact, you were lucky if people understood what you were saying when talking about innovation. Since then, our mindset about Innovation has come a long way. Nowadays the integration of innovation as a discipline is the top priority of most organization as they become more aware of the importance to keep up with the complex world of today and adapt to it.

What is a Tribe?

Based on research (Wikipedia) we found this short definition:

A tribe is a group of distinct people who are dependent on their land for their livelihood. They are largely self-sufficient, and not integrated into the national society.

In a tribe often, the totem philosophy appears because a totem is a natural or supernatural object, creature or animal that has personal symbolic meaning for an individual and whose phenomena and energy are strongly connected.

At Forcit, we carry this totem & tribe philosophy in our organization culture because we strongly believe in the strength of strong individuals who are connected to each other and are complementary. …
