Various FOD Prevention Procedures

Foreign object damage is any damage to the aircraft due to any object located at an inappropriate place. This damage can impact the smooth functioning of aircraft along with posing a high risk to human life. Besides this many millions of dollars are lost due to the damages caused by FOD. For controlling FOD several foreign object debris programs and FOD products have been introduced. The other means for controlling FOD include wind barriers & netting for restricting the movement of FOD, well-maintained paved surfaces, and fencing to prevent wildlife to enter the airfield. If repairing of damaged pavement is not possible immediately, then aircraft must use an alternate route.
