How Being An Entrepreneur Is Easier Than Being An Employee

Don’t get me wrong, being an entrepreneur is hard work, there are long hours and you are never 100% sure what fate has in store for you.

But it beats being an employee by a mile! Why? Well for one, you get to choose your own hours because you are your own boss.

This could also be a bad thing if you are irresponsible because if you choose to give yourself zero hours then the business makes zero money.

So this is the first hint that being self-employed isn’t for everyone, but I do believe anyone can do it if they really want to.

Some More Pro And Cons…

If you own your own business, then that means you also make most of the money (or all of it if you don’t have employees). When you are an employee, you don’t have a share in the company unless you pay for some, even though you and the other employees are doing most of the heavy lifting!

The reason this is because every business starts out with an entrepreneur risking their neck by personally financing or getting a loan to start the business.

As the business is growing, the entrepreneur is basically filling all the roles of a company, he does the product creation, sales, marketing, branding, accounting, taxes.

It’s very tough to do all this as one person so when the work gets too much to handle, they hire out the work to new employees.

In exchange for a steady reliable paycheck, the employees help with the day-to-day business.

Another great thing about being an entrepreneur is that you can eventually remove yourself from the equation and hire a trustworthy CEO to handle everything about the company and all you have to do is have a direction in which you want the company to go.

This will give you all of your time back and you can either kick back or start a new company.

If you’re an employee you have to wait until you’re old and decrepit to finally relax (but even then, unless you’ve been investing most of your money, retirement is gonna shrink the pay that you’re used to).

But like I mentioned earlier, nothing is guaranteed, there are a million things that can and will go wrong with the company and so you’ll be spending a majority of the first few years “putting out fires.”

This means that everyone will come to you when a problem happens and until they learn how to deal with it themselves, you are going to be in charge with coming up with solutions.

Which brings me to…

The Best And Worst Thing About Being An Entrepreneur

Whether you succeed or fail, you are 1000% responsible and nobody else, if your company loses money, there is usually a reason that could’ve been avoided, If someone steals from the company, you should’ve been more diligent.

If the company made a big profit this year then it is also your doing, as the owner and founder, you are the center of the company, all the beliefs originate from you, the work ethic came from you, and the culture is established by your behavior.

What Makes All This Responsibility Easier Than Being An Employee???

Well if you are an employee, you have the illusion of job security, this means you get a steady paycheck but whatever fortune the company has will ultimately be your fortune as well and there is nothing you can do about it.

As a lowly employee you have no say in how the company is run, and what decisions the higher-ups make that will decide your fate. One year, the company may have budget cuts or a merger and need to layoff employees.

As an employee you are always at risk but it doesn’t feel like it because the paycheck always comes on a certain date.

And on the subject of pay, your pay only increases linearly not exponentially like it would if you were an owner.

What does this mean? Well you get paid a certain amount and no more than that, you could put in hard work or you could do it half-assed but the pay will be the same.

Sure you could get a promotion but that’s after quite a while and it’s still a fixed rate.

If you are an owner of a business your income multiplies as the company grows, since you are the one who risked everything in the first place to bring the company to life.

In Conclusion

You could climb the corporate ladder all you want and you can become better off than most people you know, but the odds of that happening are very low since everyone else in the company is also trying to get ahead and there is only so much room at the top.

Or you could take the better route, the less traveled path, and become an entrepreneur; then you will be the true decider of your fate, you won’t have anybody else to blame or to answer to and your future will be yours whether it is good or bad.

You will learn more about yourself and what you are made of than you ever could at a normal job. Entrepreneurship will make you better, smarter, more aware, more compassionate, and most attractively a RICHER person than in any other life path. So what are you waiting for?
