Mature content doth be below. I try to keep it reasonable, but the nature of the subject doesn’t make it necessarily easy to accomplish. So consider this the warning. Language and Gore follow. It isn’t a blood-fest, however.

Bronski hadn’t been exaggerating when he said nothing surprised Jordan.

The first thing she had done, after getting things a little more organize, was to call Jordan. He had clearly been expecting the call and answered it on the first ring. He even greeted her by name. That had unnerved her for a moment, and then she realized he probably only got a few phone calls a day. Maybe even less.

He had suggested lunch, and Ames stomach had growled at the thought of food. She hadn’t realized how much time she had lost track of, and how hungry she had become. So she found herself accepting his invitation.

The table was able to seat quite a few people, and the arrangement was such that there wasn’t any huge gaps or spaces. So while they were at opposite ends of the table, it was quite easy to talk in a comfortable way.

The meal was a feast by any definition of the word, and Ames was stunned at all the food. Especially when she realized Jordan didn’t touch a single thing. It was all for her.

AI drawing of a feast.
