Mature content doth be below. I try to keep it reasonable, but the nature of the subject doesn’t make it necessarily easy to accomplish. So consider this the warning. Language and Gore follow. It isn’t a blood-fest, however.

“I am not sure about that,” Bronski started off slowly and thoughtfully, “I am pretty sure he was actually human at some point. The problem is that he screamed non-human for all sorts of reasons. So during the war he was almost public enemy number 1.”

Ames thought about that for a moment, “So he is a pretty decent person, but he was technically on their side.”

“I am pretty sure that is one hundred percent accurate. We didn’t realize bottom feeders like fangs annoy the heavy hitters on the non-human side almost as much as us.”

“When it was realized both sides could exterminate each other…”

Bronski interrupted, “Close to exterminate. One side could win, but the consequences of the victory would have been devastating.”

“Right,” Ames did her best to ignore the interruption, “Like with a nuclear war, with one side the winner. There isn’t enough healthy land to keep the winning side alive for long.”

Bronski tapped his nose.

She thought about it for a moment, “So the Accord is like a Cold War? Both sides are still fighting, but not officially?”
