There are a lot of shows on Prime Video but what are the best sci-fi tv shows to watch? I’ll be diving into that in this blog. Today I’m talking about the 5 best sci-fi tv shows to watch on Prime Video. Let’s get started!
Tales from the Loop
#5 on my list is Tales from the Loop. The show follows the townspeople who live above “The Loop,” a machine built to unlock and explore the mysteries of the universe. As beautifully shot as the artwork it’s based on, Tales from the Loop is a compelling science fiction story that grips viewers from the first episode.
Twelve Monkeys
#4 on my list of the best sci-fi shows on Prime Video is… 12 Monkeys. This show, based on the movie of the same name, follows the journey of a time traveller from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will nearly destroy the human race. With a compelling story and interesting characters, 12 Monkeys is definitely worth checking out.
Electric Dreams
Next on my list is…Electric Dreams. A sci-fi anthology series with stand-alone episodes based on the works of Philip K. Dick, Electric Dreams is similar to Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone in it explores different sci-fi concepts in each episode. An interesting and compelling dive into different science fiction ideas that should’ve gotten more seasons.
The Man in The High Castle
#2 on my list of the best sci-fi shows on Prime Video is…The Man in The High Castle. What would it be like if the Allied Powers had lost WWII, and Japan and Germany ruled the United States? That’s the question at the heart of this dystopian sci-fi show. Another adaptation from the works of Philip K Dick, The Man in The High Castle is a suspenseful and thrilling science fiction series.

Stargate / The Expanse
#1 on my list of best sci-fi shows on Prime Video is…a tie! Sorry I couldn’t pick between Stargate and The Expanse. The Expanse takes place hundreds of years in the future, where humans have colonized the solar system and Mars has become an independent military power. A complex mystery with compelling characters, there’s no wonder why The Expanse was saved by Amazon and brought back for multiple seasons.
And the other #1 on my list is Stargate, specifically SG1 but Atlantis is great too. Stargate SG1 follows a secret military team, SG-1, who is formed to explore other planets through the recently discovered Stargates to find new technologies to battle evil alien forces.
It’s my favourite show of all time and at first, I was only going to include it as an honourable mention but Amazon just bought MGM and MGM owns Stargate so technically Stargate is now an Amazon show and therefore the best science fiction show on Prime Video.
