Some tips before considering pool lighting

It is always preferable to provide lighting as soon as the pool is built in order to integrate the appropriate type of floodlights.

Be aware that strict safety rules must be respected (NF C 15–100) and that this work must therefore be entrusted to a professional for your safety and that of your family .

Calculate in advance the number of projectors and the power required depending on the size of the pool and the desired effect.

Good lighting is usually placed so as to illuminate evenly without dazzling.

Different types of lighting

Underwater or underwater projectors

The most commonly used are still the large incandescent spotlights of 20 to 30 cm in diameter placed directly in the wall of the basin. The above ground pool lights from a 300-watt spot extends for about 10 m. Colored lenses can be added by clipping.

Attention, it is necessary to clean the water contained in the niche of the floodlights because it is a real nursery for algae.

Currently in vogue, LED projectors offer a beautiful light and many colors. Very economical, they consume little and last a very long time. Adapters can be purchased to attach directly to the pool walls. Some LED projectors can vary colors and intensity to create different moods depending on the theme of the evening.

Covering the same distance as incandescent spotlights but much less bulky (10 cm in diameter), halogen spotlights equipped with a multi-faceted optics are ideal for lighting steps, small pools or jacuzzis. Some flat models can be fixed after the construction of the basin directly on the walls. Again, colored lenses can be installed by simple clips. Other models have discs of various colors that rotate automatically, ensuring an automatic and regular color change.

The optical fiber

Concentrated technologies, optical fiber are still very little used in Europe. The light produced outside the pool and concentrated in a lens (minimum 3.5 m for safety) is conveyed without electrical current in a flexible sheath through a translucent fiber bundle.

This technique allows to highlight the shapes of the pool, highlighting them elegantly. It can be installed after the construction of the pool in a trough or a rail under the coping.

Many floating objects can take place on the surface of your pool: luminescent ball containing rechargeable LED modules on batteries, sunlamps of various shapes, garlands, luminescent animals; you will be spoiled for choice to make your pool a magical place.
