It seems like the cost of mentorship is what keeps most companies from providing a means of mentorship to their employees. I wonder if this could be slightly mitigated by allowing employees to opt-in to mentorship. This is good because it pretty much guarantees the mentee indeed wants to be mentored and is ready to grow. This also gives people who are satisfied with their growth to keep doing their thing without the company spending money on someone who’s not interested in the extra help.

Third-party mentorship is also great because even if a company doesn’t invest internally for mentorship, they’re often willing to reimburse for career development.
