This is a great post and highly accentuates the need for basic Agile fundamentals like outcome-focused cross-functional teams that win (or lose) as a team.
The concept of product management as the people who deliver leveraging other people’s skills is highly antiquated. A PMs job should be to focus on delivering guidance, balance and insight to a cross-functional team that delivers finished product together. The PM is their primary outlet to the rest of the world, not their boss or the top dog.
Or to put it another way:
Product helps the team do the right things
The team (leveraging their different crafts) makes sure they do things right.
