Beleaguered Forsyth County Commissioner Todd Levent is under fire for failing to pay business property taxes on time year after year.

Levent, who voted to raise his own commissioner pay 23% earlier this year, is the owner of Levent Investment Properties LLC, which has repeatedly failed to pay its Forsyth County property taxes on time.

The Forsyth County Tax Commissioner appears to have filed four separate liens against property owned by Levent Investment Properties in the last four years.

The most recent tax lien, filed by the Forsyth County Tax Commissioner in Feb 2022, was paid off on March 10, 2022, the same day Levent qualified for re-election. State law requires candidates for office sign an affidavit stating they do not have any outstanding tax liability in order to qualify to run for office.

It appears the tax liens are tied to a property Levent tried to have rezoned in 2017, which launched a firestorm of controversy as he was accused of bullying neighbors and members of his family were posting maps to homes of those critical of his zoning.
