About Session:
The session took place at Hard Times Cafe on Sunday, November 3rd. Sadly, the fourth group member wasn’t feeling well so we only had four people including myself. The session was about an hour and half just because we also ate some lunch. We played zap, the story telling game, and made name tags which all took about 15 minutes for the warmups. The brainstorm session was roughly 10 minutes per prompt while the 4th one was only 5. I used notecards with each participant using a different color to distringuish ideas. I also used stickers for at the ends for voting purposes.

Warm Ups
We started off the warmups by playing zap and the story telling game. I could tell that when we first arrived to the cafe everyone was a little tired and not in the mood for a brainstorm. Surprisingly, after the warmups the whole group’s energy completely changed. Everyone was an increasingly better mood and was ready to take on the brainstorm session. Then I explained to them the warmup I devoloped called Stella’s Game (what else would I call it?). This warmup is all about getting their creative juices flowing through arts and crafts. So I brought notecards and a bunch of fun markers and stickers for them to design and decorate their own name tag. They had a lot of fun with this warmup because who doesn’t love using stickers and fun pens. I also think this really helped getting them ready for the upcoming brainstorm session.

Brainstorm Session
We started off the brainstorm with a general theme of first aid kits and how the product be improved overall. The group was very hestitant at first and did not what to say. Instead of coming up with quick ideas the would spend mutiple minutes on one idea. So the first prompt turned into me trying to teach them how to properly brainstorm. Then we moved onto then next prompt which was the first HMW statement: “How might we keep first aid kits more organized?.” This session was a lot more efficient because they finally started rapid firing first aid kit ideas. The third round was the second HMW statement: “How might we make first aid kits more eco-friendly?.” The issue is very important to the members in the brainstorm so they had alot to say during this round. This ended up being the prompt with the most ideas. Last minute I decided to add one more prompt because I really wanted to hear their ideas on how to make first aid kits more accesssible. The group took this in two directions: one being accessibility in general, and one being directed to certain catergories of people (children, adults, elderly, disabled).
