Summer-time
Greetings to you and yours from our family, home and garden!
We trust your summer, thus far, has been to your heart’s desire.
Whether yes or no, there remains time to further pursue, under-take, follow a path that serves your passion and purpose and we encourage you to go for it!
As for us, some of our summer- time garden chores include checking up on our easy plants to ensure they continue to thrive, hand watering if/as necessary (many of our plants are drought tolerant), re-potting here and there and clean up of neglected areas .
We welcome garden visitors most Saturday mornings so please do contact us directly if you would like to stop by or if you would like for us to visit your garden space!
We love summer- time for the longer days and extended evenings , soothing and cooling rains, rainbows that seem to appear regularly, graduations and family re-unions, mango season and curcuma blooms. Not so lovely are pesky mosquitos and bugs for which we are fortunate to have found a DEET-free, dermatologist tested insect repellent that uses the power of essential oils to keep bugs at bay. It is 99% effective against mosquitoes and ticks. We keep one handy by our patio door for use when in our garden space!
Truth be told, we were not always concerned with or about our immediate health, the toxins in and around our home, our contribution to bettering our planet, the future of our kids and grand-kids, or our legacy.
However, after several years of participating in plant and garden venues in our community, we began to learn of and take interest in wellness concepts and habits. We met many awesome individuals who inspired and motivated us toward taking baby steps to noticing, identifying, addressing, then challenging and changing the behaviors, habits, products we were loyal and accustomed to .
We continue with our plant and garden events and feel fortunate to have partnered with an established company who represents our pursuit of living a greener lifestyle in an economical and value based manner. Contact us directly to learn more!
Summer- time also marks an anniversary for our online shop of vintage wares!
We’re proud to share that Fortner’s Garden was established by Alethia Housen Fortner after several years of employment with a Miami based importer and distributor of starter plant material.
Alethia’s intimate experience with a family owned operation stirred and fueled her passion to initiate her own ADventure.
Alethia enjoys pairing easy plants with old, used, re-cycled, re-imagined, and re-purposed vessels. She discovered , or more accurately…re-discovered, a love for things of old. Many of the vessels she pairs with her plants are often lovely and beautiful objects on their own. This realization and, a growing collection of such objects, prompted Alethia to open an online shop of vintage wares for home, garden, office and gifts.
We’re excited to celebrate the anniversary of our online shop by offering a discount coupon!
Visit our online shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/FortnersFinds and use coupon code ANNIVERSARY2015 by August 31st 2015 for your discount.
