So you are badass iOS developer that does not let down his loyal user base and maintains iOS 6 app support up to this day! Then you should publish any updates you have in mind asap! Apple has given their deadline:

Starting March 2019, all iOS apps submitted to the App Store must be built with the iOS 12.1 SDK or later

That practically means goodbye iOS 6 support. Read along to learn why.

Hold on a minute. Why would someone support iOS 6 in 2019?

Indeed, iOS 6 was released more than 6 years ago. It is what someone would call legacy. However there might be cases where iOS 6 support is not something a developer would want to drop. Such a case is the Romo X app for the iPhone robot called Romo.

The 30 pin version of Romo users bought back in the day, is still expected to be used with their good old iPhone 3GS. And guess what, 3GS goes up to iOS 6. It makes perfect sense for them to keep using their old phone instead of purchasing a newer iPhone 4S or even a newer lightning port Romo to use with their iPhone 8.

To be honest I wouldn’t want to use my 1000€ iPhone 8 on a moving robot that my kid or dog might break. Putting my old phone to use sounds like a good idea compared to having it locked away in a drawer.
