When I interviewed with Cisco (in one of 4 interviews) I was asked about my comfort with low level driver programming.
I was then asked to explain parts of file systems programming, why Linux made certain choices with its implementation, why they stuck with it historically, and the like.
It wasn’t history trivia — i.e. “who coined the name driver" — but it was history based questioning for most of that particular interview.
