Review: Many of us have tried many ways over many years to address the uncertainty in our lives and of those close to us. We hope we can achieve a state of everything being under control and that there will be no future challenges forthcoming. We hope for this even though we know nobody (or very few people ever achieve this only by dropping out of everyday life which is not something most of us want to do). This book finally gives us a way to understand and address uncertainty in a way that strengthens us and gives us a live long approach to address our reaction to uncertainty and overcome our previously limited and ineffective ways of moving forward and really living. This approach helps you put things in perspective and move forward in a very positive, compelling way. One that feels real and not based on misrepresenting tings to ourselves. Get the book and do the exercises. You will be very glad that you did. I am!

This book is like a blueprint of practical actions that can be taken over and over again to help you cope with anxiety. I highly recommend as well as anything else by this author! Review: At my university I majored in Marriage, Family, and Human Development. In order to stay current in my field of study I have taken psychology classes and read many books and articles on anxiety, depression, cognitive behavior therapy, etc. Jennifer Shannon is one of my favorite therapists and authors to read, recommend, and relate to my own life.

This beneficial book on breaking free from uncertainty and anxiety provides awareness and a variety of valuable tools. In the workout section, Jennifer educates and encourages while creating emotional space to adjust and adapt the daily exercises for a personal approach. Jennifer gently and skillfully invites you into the process of change while presenting customizable tools and goals. She furnishes the map (a doable 30-day plan) and the supplies for the journey (explanations, new mindsets, higher values and aspirations, and post exercise reviews) which sets you up for success.

This book can be helpful for all ages and is appropriate for all ages. The Monkey Mind Workout for Uncertainty is well written, expertly edited, and creatively crafted. The corresponding audio recording on the website are professional and supportive. Read, workout, and break free from anxiety while building resilience and increasing your tolerance of uncertainty.

Title: I’ve been waiting for this book!

Review: As a committed cognitive behavioral therapist, I often refer people to Jennifer Shannon’s work, including the first workout book for perfectionism. While people have benefited, it all comes down to learning to tolerate uncertainty no matter what mental health challenge is being faced, particularly for those who struggle with problematic anxiety.
So this workout is a long-awaited gem!
Do yourself a favor and get this workout. It’s accessible enough to do on your own but if you are in therapy ask your therapist if they would be willing to work through this with you.
I’ve already referred many friends and clients to this book.

Title: Fun but practical

Review: This book was a very fun read with easy activities to practice making peace with uncertainty. I was nervous when the introduction compare her approach to a rollercoaster, but actually the activities are quite doable, with a focus on going very slightly outside your comfort zone and observing how you felt. Some examples: drive a new route than your usual even if it’s not as efficient; make a minor decision based on a coin flip; cover up the clock in your car and don’t think about whether you’ll be late. (The author does jokingly say to do these within reason, and maybe don’t take the long way on the day of a big presentation!) There are also cute little “monkey” illustrations to bring home the point. This was a self-help book that was practical and easily actionable, but also enjoyable to read.

Title: Helped Me/Great Exercises

Review: I’ve been to many therapists to deal with this issue which causes me undue stress several times over the years, but it always seems to creep back into my life.

This is a great book and will be replacing my therapists going forward (much more affordable)!! There are 30 very helpful and thought-out exercises that will help you control your perfectionistic tendencies.

Going forward, I feel like anytime that I feel myself slipping back into my old habits, I can start doing the exercise in this book again to get me back on track.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that tends to be a perfectionist and therefore you are very critical of everything you do!! It will help ease those demands we put on ourselves.
