The case for the Universe being a “supreme” being.

This morning I saw this:

As an atheist you may think, damn, but I think a case can be made for the universe being a “supreme” being in a way that is acceptable to atheists, saving you from the embarassment of candidating for a political office without a decent “belief system”.

  • Life is fractal in nature
  • Often lower life-forms are not aware that they are part of a life-form which is self-orgaized on a more complex level.
  • We cannot expect the human being to be the highest developed life-form there is, or ever will be
  • Hence we can consider that humans could be part of a greater life-form
  • The universe show patterns of self-similarity and a high degree of organization
  • The parts of the universe are connected & interact on a grand scale where, through gravitation and on to dark matter, we only begin to understand.
  • The life-spans of cosmological entities like suns & galaxies are measured in billions of years — with this in mind, cosmological distances become manageable.
  • Hence, the universe in its entirety may be seen as a vast, complex, life-form of which we are a part, in other words, a supreme being.
