Fr8 Network: May Events in Review
May was a busy month for the Fr8 Network team. From attending events to publishing our new white paper, we’ve been excited to continue developing the platform and to connect with other movers and shakers in blockchain and logistics. The Fr8 team traveled over 15,000 miles to eight events in three different states this month and here’s a recap of what we’ve been up to.
Blockchain Asia II, New Frontier Meetup, NYU
Fr8 Network co-founders, Chairman Jon Fox and CEO Sloane Brakeville, attended Blockchain Asia II — New Frontier Meetup at NYU. Hosted by Block72, GBIC, and FBG Capital, the meetup focused on future applications of blockchain both globally and in Asia. It was a milestone for Fr8 Network: Sloane made the first public announcement of the Fr8 Protocol.
CoinDesk’s Consensus 2018, NYC
CIO James Regenor came down to Manhattan for CoinDesk’s Consensus 2018. This 3-day conference is one of blockchain’s largest annual events. His Industry 4.0 panel focused on blockchain applications for digitizing commercial relationships in the manufacturing supply chain. And his Microsoft Azure panel addressing his previous enterprise blockchain work, had attendees pouring out and into the hallway.
Transparency 18, Atlanta
Fr8 Network also graced the stages at the Transparency 18. Hosted by FreightWaves and sponsored by Blockchain in Transportation Alliance (BiTA), this conference brought together a variety of freight industry stakeholders and focused around “The Future of Freight.”
CEO Sloane & Director of Engineering Barry Glasco presented a 7-minute live demo of our end to end shipping solution. More details on that in a separate post.

Ethereal Summit, NYC
Fr8 Network attended and sponsored rising artist Cautious Clay at the “SXSW of the Ethereum blockchain,” Ethereal Summit in Brooklyn, NY (which kicks off #BlockchainWeekNYC). A forward-looking event sponsored by Consensys, Ethereal organizers and attendees are very interested in the potential and future of Ethereum and blockchain technology, especially the intersection between arts and blockchain. Women of Crypto Dinner at the John Street Assemblage, NYC
Hosted by Emily Bush, advisor at Fr8 Network, and Alison Burger, the dinner brought together women across various industries and blockchain knowledge levels, including Community Manager Shankhri Balaji, to discuss inclusion, collaboration, and learning opportunities.
Other appearances
In late May, CIO Jim Regenor joined a panel at the Cowen Technology Media & Telecom Conference in NYC to discuss blockchain as an enabler for Industry 4.0. Jim also spoke at the Additive Manufacturing Business Model Workshops at the Lockheed Martin Vision Global Center in Virginia, sharing insights on logistics, supply chain management, and additive manufacturing experience, drawing on both his current Fr8 Network role and in his previous work with the Air Force, Bush & Obama administrations and MOOG.
Lead Engineer Yevgeniy Spektor also spoke at the Product School in San Francisco, focusing on introductory blockchain concepts and building projects on Ethereum.
Between these events and speaking events, the Fr8 Network still found plenty of time to continue preparing for the market launch of the Fr8 Protocol, and the mission remains as clear as ever.
