This is a very interesting read, and I thank you for putting it together. My experience so far with Hulu’s Living Room interface has been nothing short of horrific. I’m sure you’ve read all the comments and feedback in the forums, so I won’t waste your time listing all of my issues here.

Of course, I like to believe the best in people, so I’m going to work from the assumption that you and your team aren’t willfully ignoring the complaints. I’d like to know that your design team considered the alternatives, and chose to go the route currently implemented for a reason. Is there any way you can elaborate on what your success metrics were, and how you measured up against them? Has engagement improved? What about discoverability? Number of shows watched increased?

I’d be happy to hear that I’m just a curmudgeon, and that I need to get out of my patterns and be more open to new things, but from where I’m sitting, Hulu’s UX is a hot mess and some VP at Hulu just doesn’t want to be proven wrong after investing so much energy into the redesign.
