Why did you even read the piece the author wrote?

Duly chastened: I didn’t read it, or to be more accurate, I scanned it, and saw it for what it was: snobbish self-apologetic elitism passing itself off as altruism, of a sort I have witnessed and been made nauseous by over a lifetime. And seen do precious little good for anyone, other than those who indulge in it to lessen their apparent guilt over having what they do not seem truly to believe they deserve.

And even though you didn’t bother asking why I replied to it, I’ll tell you anyway:

Because I damn well felt like it.
