“Possession of child pornography” is the digital-age equivalent of the old NKVD broad-brush charge of “Trotskyite terrorism.” As in, whatever. I’ve seen it firsthand being used to set somebody up and run them out of town, and when I hear yet another report that somebody has done this most awful thing anyone can imagine, all I see is someone’s enemies playing the easiest card in the deck to get rid of him.
It is the ultimate PR move, the ultimate exoneration-proof frameup. After all, who wants to be seen standing up for a kiddie-porn enthusiast? Police have been using the technique of sending someone to prison on this sort of a charge, and letting the inmates who all hear about it be their punishment, for generations. The strategy is not to have the accused be prosecuted, but to have them be publicly crucified, and if they get also privately assaulted in the shower down at the pen, so much the better.
So when I hear of yet another of these preposterous frameups, just as when I hear of yet another high-powered executive being suddenly revealed as a “sexual harasser”, I just sit back and wait for the show to begin, of all the overnight “victims” who had until now been “afraid to come forward.” And the pathetic “I’m a Creep” confessionals, to add even more fuel of click-baited self-righteous moral outrage, to the staked pyre.
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. The torch-bearing mob triumphs yet again.
Enjoy the show.
