Sister, I had never disputed with you about what feminism is or it isn’t.

As with most of our other disputes, I just don’t see feminism itself as the megalithic threat to society you do. It’s way worse than that, and the feminism you expend so much energy and verbiage shouting down, is an obsolete and floundering fad from a former era that hardly anyone even takes seriously. Sure, it’s as Marxist as you always said it was, but Marxist feminism is not what is wrecking families and creating fatherless children and this useless grade of manhood slithering around today. It has definitely played its part, yes, but your over-emphatic obsession with it does two things in my estimation: gives antique sixties-vintage feminism way more credit than it deserves, and encourages it to keep fighting back when it is better left in the alley to be picked up by the garbage collector that history mostly is.

We’ll never agree on just how much weight to give feminist doctrine, theory or influence. But I continue to believe that not only do you vastly over-estimate these, but also that in doing so you miss a lot of other things that are going on. You remind me sometimes of chiropractors: because they know a lot about wrenching on folks’ bones, they come to assume that wrenching on folks’ bones is the cure to what ails them regardless.

Gee whiz, girl, stop being such a chiropractor already. I think you are missing a far vaster picture that maybe you just don’t want to look at.
