The single worst thing about holding conservative views and living amid an absolutely stable and thriving conservative way of life, is being in any way associated with the Republican Party. I don’t know who or what these people are or think they are, but they damn sure ain’t conservatives.
The last GOP member holding any significant rank I can ever recall as anything more than a cringeworthy embarrassment, was a fella name of Ike.
That two-bit actor and turncoat snitch everybody’s so enamored of nowadays, and runs him up the flagpole like God’s little brother (“Reagan”, I think it was?) was the most embarrassing one of them all up until then, and they just keep getting worse ever since.
The conservative way of life has as its greatest strength and gravest weakness simultaneously, the fact that it doesn’t really lend itself to folks being led. We tend not to require it, that’s kinda the point. So the ones who end up being “leaders” are the ones already too much like liberals, to just stick with ordinary life and making an honest living. Approval-seeking and glad-handing and spin control are just not conservative traits, and these blundering nincompoops of the GOP definitely show that.
