7 Simple Suggestions for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
Tips shared with students considering entrepreneurship
Question: Some students might not be prepared for the amount of hard work, focus, and dedication it takes to create a venture, what advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
Answer: My response to the above question, in a few short points.
Choose something you’re actually interested in.
Before diving in, make sure you can see yourself doing it 5 years from now.
Your team can make or break.
It’s amazing working with friends, but don’t try hard to make friends fit into your business/org if they’re not ideal candidates already.
Never stop attending events, reading, listening to podcasts, etc.
Keep connected to other entrepreneurs and their stories.
Don’t take on too much at once.
Get into a good rhythm first.
Don’t do it because of the money.
Be prepared for ups and downs along the way. But if you’re happy and have your living expenses covered, the dollar amount won’t matter — so don’t let it control all of your decisions and oppourtunities.
Be very cautious with partnerships, early on.
Collaboration is key, but be careful about who you partner with at the beginning. This can effect your relationships with future partners, or alter your own path (steer you away from your initial goals).
Don’t quit early. Give yourself a chance.
Keep momentum going, whether you have clients and events coming up or not, make something happen in the meantime!
