This week our Trend of the Week is the Cut-out top. The days are getting longer, the temperature is slowly increasing and it’s feeling a lil less gloomy.

Enter the cut-out top. If you’re looking for a statement piece with a bang to enter the new season with, then read on…

The Cut-out looks like a top where the seamstress has taken her scissors and gone “hmmm how much can I get away with”! It’s a slick fit that gives elegance with its long sleeves but also edge with the fact half of it is missing. What I love about them is they can be worn casually, productively and more formally when hitting the city.

They originate from the 1970’s, more prominently worn by men, but the more modern version dates back (of course!) to the early 2000s. This is when you’d see the likes of Christina and Britney rocking this look.

The Cut -out is also part of a wider trend gaining massive traction right now. Do you know what it is? Here’s a clue…it relates to the news. But more on that in my Trend of the Month…

Personally, I plan on getting a few different colours to mix and match, the Cut-outs go perfectly with flares or cargos and a little side bag. Spring has most definitely sprung (well in a couple of weeks anyway), so get ready for more forms of Cut-outs and lots of colours.
