I agree with Marisa. It is a noisy world out there. We are bombarded from all sides with stuff. Social media reminds me of the days of my youth, when we used to get post. Our post was full of chain letters, Reader’s Digest “spam” and such like. There was the odd letter from a friend or penpal. Nowadays, our e-mail boxed are filled with spam and the odd e-mail of substance.

For me, Medium has done is to carve out a space, where people can put down their thoughts and share them with others. Some for commercial reasons and others, just to put it out there. And that is why I prefer Medium to Facebook. Reading Medium’s contributors is like being in the doctor’s waiting room, flicking through a magasine and finding an interesting article. But the beauty of Medium is that you get to go home with just that article without ripping it out of the magasine.

Sure, some of us will get noticed and others not. It’s like democracy; there are those who get voted in and those who don’t. But it doesn’t mean that those who “lost” are not as important or are not making a difference in other people’s lives. They are.

So, put it out there. Let your voice be heard, in this noisy world. Somewhere, your quiet voice is being heard and is making a difference in someone’s live because the Internet has no borders.
