An unexpected second encounter with the Milky Way

We were just pulling over after my birthday dinner last week to check out the stars and it was sheer serendipity that I saw the Milky Way by the beach. It was awe-inspiring and breathtaking, almost rendering me in tears. It had been four years since I saw it in Inner Mongolia during the field trip that strongly deflected the path of my life.

I dare not imagine what it would be like were it not for the trip. What would I study? Who would I meet? Where would I go after graduation? I cannot tell if it was all destined or merely a series of stochastic events that lead me to where I am. Guess I’ll never know.
