A good point about nuclear proliferation. One has to wonder how proliferation would have gone if we had not dropped the bombs. Its hard to imagine that nukes would have been kept secret for too much longer. Somebody would have used them first. War between Soviets and US would have been thinkable, then the bombs might have come out. I was referring more to the country Japan became than their successes. The only force that can resist ultimate destruction is civilization. The crimes the US has committed are anti-civilizational- such as the Iraq War. But we have done much good also. The solution is not paranoia either of North Korea or the “deep state”. The first step is elevating awareness, which you seem to be doing a good job of.
