Noticing Nickels

How many nickels have you handled in your life? Hundreds? Thousands?

Without looking, could you draw the face of a nickel?

Did you get the president right? Is the head facing left or right? How about the hair? Did you get that right? How about “In God We Trust”? Was there a date? How about “Liberty”? Is the coin design even the same as when you were a kid?

Despite the ubiquitous use of credit cards, it’s still possible to handle dozens of nickels a month, maybe thousands in your lifetime, without ever really noticing. When it comes to nickels, that’s probably ok. But what about your leadership?

What do you handle every month without noticing? Your staff. How about people? What have you failed to see about them?

Really noticing what is going on with your leadership and its effect on your team is a lot more critical than noticing nickels. Learn the features of your people as you would a nickel, and the results will surprise you.
