For the Rest Of Your Life

Somebody made an interesting comment to me today. We were talking about picking degrees, and they said ‘it’s a big decision to make, when it’s gonna be what you do for the rest of your life’.

I guess it is, if you look at it that way. How do you know what you’re gonna want to do in 5, 10 , 20 years? What’s the one thing that you’ll enjoy now, but also later?

I actually don’t know. I don’t even know if there is something I’m always going to enjoy.

For me, what I enjoy most is learning something new. The idea of committing to a profession for the rest of my life frightens the heck out of me.

This got me thinking, is there not a different way? Can I do loads of different things, not just one?

If I could, what would I even do?

I asked Callum and Angus to list their top 5 alternative careers, under the condition that they could only work in each for 2 years.

Here’s my list:

  1. Bar Manager
  2. Writer
  3. Ski Instructor
  4. Management Consultant
  5. Marketing Guru

That is all.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
