When you offer a discount and your product is below $100, display the discount in percentages. When your product is above $100, display it in dollars.

This is called the rule of 100.

The reason why you want to do this is simple. Saving 25% on a $10 t-shirt looks a lot more attractive to a potential customer than saving $2.5.

But saving $125 on a $500 item looks a lot more attractive than saving 25%.

The amount you save is the same, but the perception is different.
