HIGHLIGHTS

The Drivers of Social Preferences: Evidence from a Nationwide Tipping Field Experiment // Great study on 40 million Uber rides and the tipping behavior of riders. Great summary by Wired below. A quick read of the abstract will give you a good overview but also worth reading the conclusion for the entire sharing economy (P38). Turns out gender matters when it comes to tipping. How Much Is Too Much? Examining the Relationship Between Digital Screen Engagement and Psychosocial Functioning in a Confirmatory Cohort Study // Lots of research reading this week. The two papers look at the old debate on if screen time is good or bad for children. There is probably some common sense to all of this but I also realize that I might be incredibly biased (as pointed out by the paper). Apparently screen time for kids is not as bad as we might think it is. The paper highlights that there is probably a ton of noise in the development of children (99% of variability in psychosocial outcomes is unrelated to digital engagement”) (link) // Counter position (link) // Summary (link)

Good Leaders are Great Storytellers // I generally really like reading about how companies frame out the story of their company. There is good tips in here even though I might disagree on the notion that you can codify storytelling. Each business is unique so I would think that using the same toolbox for everything can’t be the totally right approach. Would love to hear from you what you think! (link)

Twitter will stop accepting all political advertising on its platform globally starting on November 22 // Those of you who follow this for a while have seen my interest in what Twitter is doing around world leaders on Twitter. If you have not, give Week 42 a quick read. Today Jack Dorsey is out there again taking a stance on banning political ads. They seem to be putting a great deal of thought into this which I think is very interesting and shows its importance. Will be interesting to see how other players will react (link)
