I always find it amusing when people refuse to accept that there’s ANY validity to the concerns of others simply because they disagree with the person’s politics.
The reality is that while the game isn’t zero-sum, it’s not infinitely expandable either, anything done to lift one person up DOES come at the expense of another, while that may be a reasonable expense, it is still an expense, and one the person paying should have a say in.
Your point about the French Revolution deserves an addition: The people on the dropping end of the teeter-totter are the ones with most of the guns, because the people on the rising end have refused to exercise their rights. That may come back to bite them later. I’m making a giant tub of popcorn.
