Here is how I do things:

  1. It has to be a co-founder preferably the tech one
  2. They have had to view my app demos, vids, github, etc AND yes I do have enough analytical data collected to know whether they viewed that stuff or not.
  3. I ask pre-interview prep questions pertaining to what problem areas they have with their android app implementation.

Due to the large amount of libs I have cleaned up I do not do whiteboard interviews…

And if they are not open to listening on these points.. that is the employer you will get ie not listening and brutal hell to work for.
