Funny, I this morning, I was thinking about how your posts on twitter changed my mind about strict regulation of monopolies. It seems like bigger firms are just not as creative nor as productive as smaller ones. This seems to be because there’s this inertia with a bigger firm. Instead of having young people who are eager to make things, they have older managers who are jealous of their fiefdoms.
About 10 years ago, I was freaking out about Walmart taking over the world by putting out all the smaller mom and pop’s aka _The Big Box Swindle_: https://www.amazon.com/Big-Box-Swindle-Mega-Retailers-Independent-Businesses/dp/0807035017/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1503940024&sr=8-1&keywords=the+big+box+swindle
I was also thinking about how much I cheered judge Jackson as he talked about dismantling Microsoft. Now, it turns out that what Gates said is true, Windows was always in a precarious situation.
Finally, this article is a bit calming, as I was a bit worried about Amazon taking over. Even though I use it all the time because it’s so convenient.
Anyway, thanks for writing this. Next time there’s a threat of a monopoly, I’ll rest easy.
