Shackled in the chains of social media

Hey! How many likes did I get? Bro, please repost my video. I really need more followers. He commented! OMG!

Yes, yes, yes, that is what most of you people do most of the time. Don’t pretend you do not.

I know you better than yourself.

I am the one.

Have I got your attention now? Great. I can start now what you are here for.

Social media has become the utmost necessity of our life nowadays. First of all, how many of them are there? I probably don’t even know. And even if you are not active on each of them, you would most certainly have an account on every of them and are active on at least half of them.

Not saying that social media is bad for you or anything. It has changed the perspective of our lives as it was before. Stay connected all around the world. Really necessary!

However, I recently had quit all forms of social media for a short period of time and made quite good use of that time also. Yes I did!

A random good quote

A few people asked me how I achieved the not so amazing but a bit astonishing feat. Here is how I stayed away from social media -

  1. Deactivate accounts you do not use — Accounts are just a simple pass to various websites that can be created again and again easily. Don’t need an account or want to cut its usage? Deactivate it or even better delete it. You can create another one whenever you want.
  2. Uninstall the social apps — A huge amount of social media traffic is created through mobile applications that allow you to access various social medias in just one tap. If you want to cut its usage, just uninstall the app. You might be not be lazy enough to reinstall it again and again, but trust me you will cut quite a huge amount of your social media time by this step.
  3. Find something better — Just like I found Medium. And I love it. I love Medium. You may not have the same taste as me but you can surely find something else better to keep your mind occupied. It need not be another application, just find something that will keep your mind occupied.
  4. Sell your phone — What an idea! NO phone, NO social media. Just kidding. Don’t do it please. What you can do is leave your phone inside the house once in a while so that you do not have the tendency to check it once every two seconds.

That’s all folks!

Please click that heart to appreciate my effort.

Tell me if these worked for you. And if you have any of yours comment below.
