Ruiner Build:40Runeshaper/36Druid/0Inquisitor
 Endgame RuneFury Build:61Runeshaper/12Shaman/3Inquisitor

Intermediate hybrid levelling build, using core raid Runeshaper mechanics. Can be used for End Game World Dps/Soloing content at level 65.

DRUID REWORK WILL PROBABLY EFFECT THE PLAYSTYLE OF THIS SPEC. WILL CHANGE ONCE DRUID IS ON LIVE. BUT CAN BE USED NOW.

Souls

Runeshaper backstory — Mortality is the Problem

Runeshaper soul is acquired from the Ascended Soul Pack. It is currently the Cleric’s competitive ST ranged dps spec, using priority based abilities it is able to out dps the many. With being our top dps spec it is also very unique offering comparable support soul abilities; such as from those from Oracle, Bard, Archon, Beastmaster, that can enhance any encounter. With only allowing 40 Soultree points, it is also possible to have a range of fire — based hybrids, offering unique play-styles without discarding Runeshapers’ damage. Runeshaper does have its weaknesses including mobility with several cast time based abilities and survivability with one self healing ability. Currently the best Runeshaper build is 51Runeshaper/17Shaman/8inqusitor(by ChinaPandaMan), which is being used in raid environments.

Druid backstory — Druid

Druid soul is a a free to play soul. It is focused around Fae pets that work harmoniously together with the Cleric to empower each other strengths. Druid soul allows the Cleric and their companions to have attacks that are both melee and ranged. With 4 companions to choose from; Tank; Healer; Ranged Dps; Melee Dps, you are able to tackle any situation. Majority of Druid strongest damage done are from melee attacks and from dps pets, however if the pet were to die the Clerics’ survivability and killability, will be immensely reduced. Traditionally Druids are used for levelling, and soloing content at any levels. Most common of builds is Silenus. (61druid/10shaman/5inqusitor).

Ruiner — Best of Both Souls

Ruiner is combining the best of both souls forming a formidable hybrid. A ranged fire — nature hybrid soul, where pets accompany you as supports rather than dps, while Runeshaper deals HIGH damage, ideally from afar. The hybrid does not depend on Fae pets for its damage, but more for their heals and distraction. If your pet were to die you are either able to escape using a number of abilities, or quickly re-summoning the required pet you need or with the increased mobility in this spec, kill them all!, as you dance around your foes dealing high melee or range instant cast attacks. This spec works really well even if you are really undergeared, works well in IA with heal pet, pulls close dps to Inquisitor, depending on rng can be higher, but with pets and many utilities.

Guide

A Step by Step guide for levelling while in Runeshaper hybrid, which will allow new cleric players to understand the roots of its’ abilities and how to use them efficiently for a more enjoyable learned levelling experience and in time allowing for an easy transition to the raid Runeshaper spec.

Addons to use

Spoiler!

Use addons to assist you in levelling and keeping track of ability cooldowns. Kalerts, Gadgets are extremely useful.

Understanding Relevant Soultree point allocation/ Runeshaper abilities — Overview

With Runeshaper being the main focus for dps in this spec it is important to understand the core concept and why abilities are the way they are; with long cast times, how the Soultree helps with adjusting these abilities and what order you should use them to increase dps and in turn will make sense of Runeshaper playstyle. As you level the guide will reiterate key mechanics and as you practice; get a better understanding of rotation and priorities. This will be for abilities that are obtained within the spec, but can be applied for any Runeshaper build.

Core Concepts

Spoiler!

Hasty Inscription

Spoiler!

Building stacks of Hasty Inscription

  • Hasty Inscription is needed to be built at 4 stacks at all times. At 4 stacks Rune of Smiting; 6 second cast time ability, becomes instant cast. Hasty Inscription can be only be built using our basic ability Runestrike.

Smiting Force

Spoiler!

  • Smiting Force adds 100% damage of Rune of Smiting damage per stack. This can be stacked up to 3 times to allow for Rune of Smiting damage to be boosted by 300%. Stacks can be obtained by ability Soulbinding (41 Soultree points), Rune of Castigation and Inscribed Fate.

Runelord/ Runelord Inscriptions

Spoiler!

  • There is a 15% chance of obtaining the Runlord buff; if proc’d via casting Runestrikes, will allow Runestrikes to be instant cast for 10s and reduces cleric 1.5s gcd to 1s gcd. Hence obtaining quicker stacks of Hasty Inscription, inturn increasing chance of the Rune of Castigation proc to occur; gaining stacks of Smiting Force and ultimately a faster buffed Rune of Smiting to be used. Runelord Inscriptions is a 15s runelord buff and has a 2min cooldown.

Abilities

Spoiler!

Runestrike

Spoiler!

Casting many Runestrikes

  • Used to build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription. This ability is what makes Runeshaper a turret spec; Runestrike being a 1.5s cast time ability. Casting as many Runestrikes is needed to proc Runelord; 10s ability, which makes our Runestrike cast time to become 0, allowing 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription and up to 3 stacks of Smiting Force to be obtained faster; boosting damage to our finisher Rune of Smiting.

Rune of Castigation

Spoiler!

  • Is a 6s cast time ability and should be only used when proc’d. 5 Soultree points into Rapid Judgement gives a 30% chance of allowing Rune of Castigation to be proc via casting Runestrikes. Gives a stack of Smiting Force.

Runelord Inscriptions

Spoiler!

  • There is a 15% chance of obtaining the Runlord buff; if proc’d will allow Runestrikes to be instant cast for 10s and reduces cleric 1.5s gcd to 1s gcd.

Rune of Smiting

Spoiler!

  • Our hardest hitting ability. It bleeds 30% of damage done after 3 seconds, due to 3 Soultree points in Rune layering. Is instant cast at 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription and is buffed with each stack of Smiting Force.

Seals

Spoiler!

  • Only one of the seals; Seal of Pain, Seal of Enhancement (51 Soultree points) or Seal of Vulnerability can be applied to target. Enduring inscriptions allows all seals duration to increase by 100%. Seals now last 30s, instead of 15s. Level 63 mastery Faith’s Freedom allows all seals to be applied to the target.

Rune of Travail

Spoiler!

  • Rune or Travail allows all Seals to be refreshed once they are applied to the target, due to 1 point in Soultree talent, Powered Inscriptions. However, currently it still refreshes Seals regardless if a point is not used.

Rune of Power

Spoiler!

  • Allows Rune of Castigation to be instant cast.

Runeshaper Playstyle — Overview

Runeshaper is a priority stacking, proc’ing, very-RNG based soul, where our hardest hitting abilities are used to build up to 3 stacks of Smiting Force and our basic attack, Runestrike is used to gain 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription, which buffs our instant cast finisher;Rune of Smithing, by 300% to deal HIGH damage.

By casting many of our basic attacks, we increase the chance of Runelord procs to occur to instant cast our Runestrikes, which is usually at 1.5s. This allows to ramp the necessary stacks quicker.

By building 2 sets of stacks to achieve high damage you have to efficiently prioritise on which ability you want to use next to build those necessary stacks.

The general Runeshaper rule is to try and build as many stacks of Smiting Force before your Hasty Inscription stacks.

Runeshaper priorities:

Cast Runestrikes, to increase chance of Runelord buff
 V
Keep your seals on your target, refresh by using Rune of Travail only
 V
Build 3 stacks of Smiting Force
 V
Build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription (Usually you would have 2 stacks of Smiting Force due to Rune of Castigation proc and Inscribed Fate at around 2 stacks of Hasty Inscription)
 V
Rune of Power is usually best used for when you don’t have enough Smiting Force stacks, as it allows instant cast of Rune of Castigation which gives a stack of Smiting Force
 V
If you reach 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription with less than 3 Smiting Force stacks use Rune of Smiting

As you play Runeshaper you will notice that it is a very turret spec with little mobility. Going hybrid, into the druid soul, is a way to compensate for this, as it gives us instant cast melee and ranged abilities.

Ruiner Playstyle — Overview

Ruiner has the same principals as the standard raid Runeshaper build, where priority of abilities is key to successful high dps, but has the ability to use instant cast range and melee abilities, with pets which are sent to attack first while you are at range building stacks. With several utilities to get out of any situation and variety of pets to assist you as well.

Difficutly: Intermediate

Ruiner Advantages
 — Uses raid Runeshaper core mechanics
 — Increased mobility from the standard Runeshaper build
 — Variety of pets to assist you in, healing/ tanking /dpsing
 — Increased survivability
 — Runeshapers’ high damage
 — Several utilities for solo and group content

Ruiner Disadvantages
 — Not as bursty damage as other souls
 — Aoe not as strong as other souls
 — Runeshapers RNG factor

Rotation

Spoiler!

There isn’t a set rotation with this build or any Runeshaper build, outside the 2min cd block. It is more of using the spam macro and Runestrikes, until you get the desired reactives to use to build stacks based on Runeshaper priorities.

For a General ST Rotation
Precast Runefall to get diversity stacks. Precast non aggro Seal of Vulnerability > Petattack > Thorns of Ire > Seal of Pain > Eruption of Life > Vex > use Runelord’s Inscription to quickly build stacks of Hasty Inscription and Smiting Force, until instant cast Rune of Smiting > Soul Stream > Refresh Seals using Rune of Travail > Refresh dots Thorns of Ire, EoL and Vex > spam Main Macro, while building stacks again to instant cast Rune of Smiting > Repeat

When moving in melee, spam main macro for instant cast melee attacks. When moving at range, spam main macro for instant cast range attacks.

Aoe
Use Runefall for ranged aoe damage and Wild Strike for melee mobility aoe damage. While using Greater Faerie Seer pet, have ability Fae Dispersion toggled on to increase aoe damage.

Swapping targets
Get seals and dots up as quick as you can > Petattack > spam macro and into Runeshaper priority

Keybinds
It is best practice to have Runestrike, Rune of Travail, Rune of Castigation and Rune of Smiting on separate keybinds. Use another ability bar for all 15 utility abilities.

Ruiner Leveling

Level 1–6

Spoiler!

  • Abilities gained in order of levels gained
  • Spoiler!
  • Runestrike — Main spammer ability. Runestrike is a basic range(30m), cast time attack. Main builder of Hasty Inscription stacks at level 13.
Inscribed Fate — Instant cast damage ability; cooldown of 8 seconds. Builder of Smithing Force used to boost Rune of Smiting ability damage by 100% at level 8.
Fervent Strike — Basic melee attack. Can be ranged at level 62.
Summon: Satyr Protector — Tank melee pet with 3 abilities. Careful Strike, Satyr Stomp and Interpose. Can be upgraded to Greater Satyr Protector at level 39.
Summon: Faerie Healer — Healing range pet with 3 abilities. Fae blast, Faerie healing, Faerie Favor. Can be upgraded to Greater Faerie Healer at level 56.
Vex — Ranged dot over 15s
Seal of Pain — Ranged dot over 15s. Increased to 30s at level 22.
Shield of oak — Shield that absorbs 85% of damage of x amount damage done by enemies. Also a 5% run speed boost. Both last 30s.
Runefall — 7s channeled aoe ability that damages up to 5 enemies.
  • How to play
  • Spoiler!
  • On your pet ability bar. Right click the pet abilities so it is active on the pet, yellow border indicates it is active. Also activate defend and follow by left clicking. This will make sure your pet follows you at all times and doesn’t aggro mobs randomly. Pets are hungry for enemies! Using your pet efficiently will allow you to have great survivability and killability.
  • Your Tank pet will hold the mobs’ aggro and deal damage to them. Your heal pet will heal you and attack the mob, but will not hold aggro from the mob.
  • Using your pet’s first to attack, you are able to stay at range avoiding attacks, casting Runestrikes, Inscribed Fate and apply dots to them. If your pet dies, you are able to re-summon your pet, depending on the situation a tank or healer. However with the 8s cast time, they might get close to you. At this point you decide if you want to run or fight. Using shield of oak applies a decent shield, keeping you alive long enough to finish them off with fervent strike. If you or your pet get greedy and aggro everyone use runefall for decent aoe damage. Ideally you want them to be grouped up; attacking your tank pet.

  • Rune of Castigation — 6s cast time ability that does high damage. Builder of Smiting Force used to boost Rune of Smiting ability damage by 100% at level 8.
Rune of Smiting — 3.5s cast time ability whose damage can be boosted by Smithing Force stacks. Can be instant cast at level 13.
Combined Effort — Melee attack; 15s ability cooldown. Applies a 5s buff to the target which boost damage from the pet and any cleric attacks by 5%. Can be refreshed using any cleric attack ability.
  • How to play
  • Spoiler!
  • As a new player you probably want to use the two new Runeshaper ability Rune of Castigation and Rune of Smiting, but because of how Runeshaper plays, it is not currently worth using at these levels as the cast time is too long. Casting Runestrikes, applying dots, melee attacks and pet attacks will probably kill the enemy before you finish casting these abilities. However they are the backbone abilities of this spec and will use them at level 13 and onwards.
  • Combined Effort applies a 5% damage boost on your target. If you are close enough to your enemy you can cast this ability then run away, while your pet aggros the mob; casting Runestrikes with extra damage boost from afar.

  • Rune of Travail — Instant cast damage ability; 6s cooldown. Has the ability to refresh seals on target.
  • How to play
  • Spoiler!
  • Only needing 1 point in Hasty Inscription;even at level 65, you are now able to instant cast Rune of Smiting, your strongest attack in the Runeshaper soul. To instant cast, you build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription. Once 4 stacks are built you will get an instant cast reactive ability for Rune of Smiting. No more 3.5s cast time!
  • With 5 Soultree points into Rapid Judgement you now have a 30% to gain Rune of Castigation as an instant cast reactive ability when you cast Runestrikes. No more 6s cast time! Make sure to keybind this ability to your bar.
  • Before using Rune of Smiting you should build stacks of Smiting Force to boost its’ damage. Remember Inscribed Fate and Rune of Castigation allows these stacks to be built, with each stack adding 100% damage boost to Rune of Smiting; up to 3 stacks. This is where the priority of abilities comes into play, where judging which stacks needs to be built before using Rune of Smiting. Refer to Runeshaper Priorities.
  • Rune of Travail has a hidden ability that refreshes your seals on your target. You want to make sure you have this ability off cooldown when your seal reaches 2s, so it can get refreshed. There is travel time, so using it early is always best.

     Trickster’s Bolt — Ranged(30m) life attack
Seal of Vulnerability — Adds 5% damage boost from runeshaper abilities, Runestrikes, Rune of Castigation and Rune of Smiting
Greater Rune of Imprisonment — Snares 10 enemies for 5s
Slumber — Puts an enemy to sleep for 10s
Greater Rune of Energy — Restores 4% mana each second for 15s
  • How to play
  • Spoiler!
  • With many damage abilities and now utilities, playing this spec might get overwhelming.
  • So you want to start any fight with your pet attack. Next apply your Seal of Pain; where its duration has been increased by 100% due to 3 Soultree points in Enduring Inscriptions. Then apply Eruption of Life, Vex. Go into the main macro spam building 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription; up to 3 stacks of Smiting Force using Inscribed Fate and reactive ability Rune of Castigation and finally using instant cast Rune of Smiting. Refresh your Seal of Pain using Rune of Travail only, and refresh other dots when they are down.
  • If your situation gets a bit hairy, use any of the 3 utilities; Greater Rune of Imprisonment, Slumber, Shield of Oak, help out.
  • With 2 Soultree points into Heed the Call, your cast time of pets is now 2s, so they are now interchangeable very fast depending on whether you need a tank or heal pet.
  • If you run out of mana you get an AOE mana regen via Greater Rune of Energy, restoring mana to anyone that steps into your aoe.
  • You also have probably figured out that Runeshaper soul is becoming a very turret spec, where Runestrike is the ability that leads up to your strongest attack. Using pets to attack while you are attacking from ranged is best, if you need to run and attack, your Inscribe Fate, Rune of Travail and now Trickster’s Bolt, along with your dots can attack from range, doing reasonable dps while you get to a safe position to start recasting Runestrikes.

  • Along with Greater Rune of Imprisonment, Slumber, Shield of Oak, you now get Notion theft, Grim Silence and Greater Rune of Mobility to help out in tricky situations.
  • Thorns of Ire is a dot that does additional damage. Best used in group content where every attacker gets to do additional damage to the target. Can be used in soloing as well, if you can manage all the dots.
  • Fae Dispersion is best used in group content, where Greater Faerie Healer heals will spread to 5 party members. At level 56 Greater Faerie Seer will spread its damage to 5 enemies as well, great for aoe damage.
  • With a point in Powered Inscriptions, seals can be refreshed and damage of Runestrikes, Rune of Smiting are increased by 20%. More damage!
  • As being a range spec teleporting behind/to enemy is not ideal if you are undergeared/underleveled. But you can if you choose to.

  • At level 64, you get diversify. Casting Runefall applies 2 stacks of diversify boosting your damage before any fight.
  • Soul Stream a powerful 3s channelled ability that offers high damage and self heal. It is on a 1min cooldown, best used for bursting down mobs or saving it as a heal. FAQ

What are the support soul abilities?
These are categorized under utilities. They are Greater Rune of Energy; a 15s aoe mana and energy regen, Great Rune of Mobility; a 4s aoe speed boost to allies and a slow to enemies.

How does this spec help in group content?
Using support abilities and your pet, Greater Faerie Healer toggled with ability Fae Dispersion for aoe healing.

I like the pets druid soul offers, which hybrid should I go into next for max Ruiner damage?
Depending on what you need, let’s say you’re focusing ST dps, that means Greater Satyr destroyer pet is your best st-dps pet, you want a minimum of 31points into druid, leaving 45 Soultree points.

Going a minimum of 2 into Inquisitor soul allows you to get Armour of Devotion increasing your crit chance by 5%. Leaving 43 to go into Runeshaper. 43Runeshaper/31Druid/2Inquistor

You will now get a very high damaging ability Rune of Soulbinding, which also applies a stack of Smiting Force. Your rotation changes a little, where you want to use Rune of Soulbinding every 45s. Runeshaper priorities are still in play.

Is there a rotation?
Ruiner and 61RS does not have a set rotation outside of the 2min Runelord’s Inscription cd block. This is because Runeshaper depends on chance. You should base your rotation on Runeshaper priorities.

For general Ruiner rotation

Spoiler!

What is the 2min cd block?
You want to use Runelord’s Inscription every 2mins with raid cooldowns to get your damage boosted. For raid players that is at 4s into the fight and then every 2min.

Why not go full 61points into Runeshaper?
This is a levelling build. Going straight into Runeshaper, you would find that it is a very turret spec, with lack of mobility abilities and lack of self healing at low levels. Ideally you want to use another spec or hybrid.

What about other damaging abilities in Runeshaper such as Rune of Soulbinding and Rune of Impending Doom?
Currently Rune of Impending Doom is not worth getting as damage from this ability is too low. With Rune of Soulbinding you would need at least 41 points into Runeshaper. Ruiner is a levelling/soloing build so a minimum of 36points is needed in druid for survivability. You can respec to 43Runeshaper/31Druid/2Inquistorat level 60.

Is there another ranged pet hybrid?
Not that I know of. Having full range of pets while doing good dps is only available in the Runeshaper soul, as Runeshaper core abilities for high dps are obtainable at low levels in the Soultree, where other builds need 61points.

RUNEFURY (61Runeshaper)

RuneFury Build:61Runeshaper/12Shaman/3Inquisitor

Advanced 61 Runeshaper guide with a focus on st dps at endgame.

Introduction

RuneFury has the potential to be our very competitive ST range dps spec. Currently the best Runeshaper soul builds are the hybrids 51Runeshaper/17Shaman/8Inquisitor(by ChinaPandaMan) and 47 Runeshaper/17 Shaman/12 Inquisitor (by Tilar and Notverynice), which is being used in raid environments/ end game content.

This guide is to give insight into how 61Runeshaper is to be played and showing the potential it has.

The Spec

RuneFury is based of the Runeshaper soul which is currently (patch 3.6), the Cleric’s competitive dps spec. Being our top dps spec it is also very unique offering support abilities enhance any encounter. With our core mechanics and abilities low in the soultree, a variety of hybrids are now made possible within the cleric class.

RuneFury is best used in fights where little movement is required (as our main builder Runestrikes has a 1.5s cast time), being at ranged, on a single target, with little to no cleave.

It is a very Critical Hit chance based spec, which affects your dps greatly, hence you want to fire as many Runestrikes to proc several abilities (Runelord, Rune of Castigation, Rune of Smiting) to be used, based on priority, to build stacks that will amplify your damage.

One of RuneFury’s core mechanic, plays similar to Inquisitor where you build 4 stacks of Life and Death Concord using Bolt of Judgements to fire of Bolt of Depravity, where in RuneFury you want to build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription using Runestrikes to fire of Rune of Smiting.

Why choose Shaman and Inquisitor subsouls?

To increase overall ST damage and Critical Hit chance of 61Runeshaper.

12 points into the shaman soul gives

  • Increase secondary stat Spell Power by 10% from Dauntless Courage
  • Increase ST damage by 4% from Singled Out
  • Increase Critical Hit chance by 5% from Vicious Streak
  • Increase mobility issues of RuneFury with 5 extra instant cast abilities

3 points into the Inquisitor souls gives

  • Increase secondary stat Spell power by 6% from Planar Study
  • Increase Critical Hit chance by 5% from Armour of Devotion

Pros Vs. Cons

Pros

  • Dps is very RNG orientated. Can lead to very high dps
  • Do not have to worry about cooldowns for 2mins
  • 2 Unique support abilities
  • Rune of Return =/ Just love this 50m teleport xd

Cons

  • Very turret spec(Runestrike 1.5s), where mobility dps is a problem. You are sacrificing movement for high dps, in any Runeshaper spec. Movement abilities are filler dps.
  • Not our best ST dps spec. Hybrids are better
  • Poor aoe/ No cleave damage and mechanic
  • Dps is very RNG orientated. Can lead to low dps
  • Target swapping is not ideal
  • Can only be used in certain raid boss fights for maximum dps

Gear and Stat priority

  • Runeshaper soul depends heavily on crit rng, so going into Spell Critical Hit is an advantage. You want to build into Crit Power softcap ~38%, then as much of Wisdom and Spell Power. Any Crit Power overflow, you can go into your quaternary stat, Spell Critical Hit, increasing the chance of critical hit. At end game content, depending if you are willing to invest in several gears and souls you play, it is very hard to get high into Spell Critical Hit, without affecting your overall dps.
  • Having anything above 35% is ideal. You want your Runes to Crit Hit hard, to do very high damage.
  • Using rift meter, ability breakdown, looking at crit chance I’m at 50%-70% on abilities, parsing around 95k with T3 gear/T2 weapons. I can parse as low as 80’s if crit is not on my side.

Synergy crystal

Use Eldritch Crystal, for better scaling at end game content. With 500 Spell Critical proc chance, the boost is greatly appreciated with the Runeshaper soul.

Rotation

Spoiler!

There isn’t a set rotation with this build or any Runeshaper build, outside the 2min cd block. It is more of using the spam macro and Runestrikes, until you get the desired reactives to use to build stacks based on Runeshaper priorities.

Best ST Opener Rotation
Precast Runefall to get 2 stacks of Diversify> Precast Seal of Vulnerability> Seal of Pain> Inscribe Fath> Rune of Soul Binding> Rune of Impending Doom> Runelord’s Inscription> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Castigation> Rune Strike> Runestrike> Rune of Smiting> Inscribe Fath> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Castigation> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Power + Rune of Castigation> Rune of Smiting> Inscribe Fath> Rune of Travail> Maintain Seals + stacks based on priority, if movement melee/range use SoulStream first then spam macro

When moving in melee, spam main macro for instant cast melee attacks. When moving at range, spam main macro for instant cast range attacks.

Aoe
Use Greater Rune of Agony, where majority of mobs are grouped up, then spam Aoe macro (Runefall), until you need to reapply Greater Rune of Agony again.

Swapping targets
Get seals and dots up as quick as you can > Use Instant Rune of Castigation macro to quickly get a stack of Smiting Force> Spam Main Macro and into Runeshaper priority

Keybinds
Best to separate key for Runestrike, This is because during Runelord proc you don’t want to waste a gcds by using Main spam macro with Inscribe Fate being first in the macro. Other abilities to be on separte keybinds for greater st dps control are: Rune of Castigation, Rune of Smiting, Rune of Soul Binding, Rune of Impending Doom, Rune of Travail, All Seals, Soul Stream.

Core Concepts

Stack Stack Stack

  • The spec plays by building stacks to empower Rune of Smiting, via Runestrikes and its’ procs. We build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription, 3 stacks of Smiting Force and up to 7 stacks of Rune of Impending Doom. These stacks have the end goal of increasing Rune of Smiting damage.

Movement Predictability

  • Runeshaper suffers from mobility with Runestrike being our spam cast time ability. Predicting when to move and when to cast is a dps boost.
  • During movement phases you don’t want to delay casting Runestrikes as you might allow the accumulative Hasty Inscription stacks to fall off.

Runestrikes

  • All procs (Rune of Castigation, Hasty Inscriptions, Runelord, Rune of Smiting) depend on this being casted. Cast this all the time with regards to stacks, until you have to move.

Hasty Inscription

  • Obtained low in the Runeshaper Soultree. Only 1 point is needed in the talent Hasty Inscription, which has the same effect as 2 points.
  • Hasty Inscription is needed to be built at 4 stacks at all times. At 4 stacks Rune of Smiting; 6 second cast time ability, becomes instant cast. You never want to hard cast Rune of Smiting, as you will be delaying procs that can enhance Rune of Smiting.
  • Hasty Inscription can be only be built using our basic ability Runestrike. During fights that include movement; predict it. You don’t want to let stacks fall off, as it is a dps loss. You have 11 seconds to figure out when you need to recast Runestrike to keep the stack refreshed.
  • When reaching 4 stacks, a buff appears indicating that it is time to cast Rune of Smiting. This buff unfortunately has the same name as Hasty Inscription, and so when tracking this in kalert you will see it change from 4 stacks to 1 stack, which is very confusing. It is best to use Gadgets to see the 4 +1 stacks of Hasty Inscription more clearly to know when to cast Rune of Smiting. This mechanic plays similar to 61 Inquisitor mechanic.

Smiting Force

  • Smiting Force buff adds 100% damage of Rune of Smiting damage per stack. This can be stacked up to 3 times to allow for Rune of Smiting damage to be boosted by 300%.
  • Stacks can be obtained from abilities; Soulbinding, Rune of Castigation and Inscribed Fate.
  • Smiting Force last for 12 seconds and you never want to let this drop off. These stacks are equally as important as Hasty Inscription stacks, and more RNG oriented to be obtained. Ideally you want to build 3 stacks before firing Rune of Smiting.
  • 1 stack is better than no stack.

Runelord

  • Having 5 points spent in Runelord talent, our chance of obtaining the Runelord buff is increased to 15%.
  • Runelord buff can be only proc’d by casting Runestrikes. It lasts for 10s and once proc’d, will allow Runestrikes to be instant cast for 10s and reduces the clerics’ 1.5s gcd to 1s gcd. Hence obtaining quicker 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription, inturn increasing chance of the Rune of Castigation proc to occur; gaining 3 stacks of Smiting Force and ultimately a faster buffed Rune of Smiting.
  • During this proc only casting RUNESTRIKES and the REQUIRED PROCS is a must.
  • At the start of any Runelord buff, you want to use the 61 point ability Rune of Impending Doom, to get the maximum benefit of this ability and to refresh any Seals that you think that will run out when the Runelord buff is finished. So any Seals that are less than 10s.
  • If starting from 0 stacks (highly unlikely) of both Hasty Inscription and Smiting Force stacks; during this proc(10s) you can get 1 fully buffed Rune of Smiting and a few stacks of Hasty Inscription and Smiting Force.
  • Runelord Inscription is activated once Runelord talent has 5/5 Soultree points. This is a 2min cooldown ability that gives you the Runelord buff for 15s, allowing for at least 2 fully buffed Rune of Smiting.
  • It is imperative you concentrate, as all our RED COLOUR abilities can confuse you, even when tracking. Icons/ icon colour can be changed using Kalerts.

Ability

Buff

Rune Vessel

  • From Runeshaper soul, increases damages done by all Runeshaper spells by 10%.

Vengeance of the Winter Storm

  • From the Shaman soul, adding additional damage when water damage is used. Very useful when using filler dps as it adds damage.

Armour of Devotion

  • From the Inquisitor soul With Runeshaper being heavily relied on Crit RNG having a crit buff increases crit damage.

Level 62:

  • Blessing of Penitence, but you can choose any

Level 63:

Faith’s Freedom

  • This mastery is the best ability to have for Runeshaper. It allows you to apply all 3 of Runeshaper’s Seals on 1 target. By using Rune of Travail, you are able to refresh all 3 Seals in 1gcd, every 28s.

Level 64:

Diversify

  • This ability increase your damage by 3% per stacks. Max 2 stacks.
  • Use Runefall to get 2 stacks pre pull

Level 65:

 Soul Stream

  • A Hard hitting 3s channelled ability
  • Best used during movement phase for little dps loss

ST Dps

Runestrike

  • Runestrike is our main spammer ability, which allows layers of damage to be applied via procs to boost Rune of Smiting.
  • Used to build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription. This ability is what makes Runeshaper a turret spec, with Runestrike being a 1.5s cast time ability.
  • Casting Runestrike has a chance to proc Rune of Castigation. Which is used to build up to 3 Smiting Force stacks.
  • Casting Runestrike has a chance to proc Runelord buff; 10s ability, which makes our Runestrike cast time to become 0, allowing 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription and up to 3 stacks of Smiting Force to be obtained faster; boosting damage to our finisher Rune of Smiting.
  • You want to use it all the time as it allows procs to happen which is a dps boost, then using other instant cast abilities
  • Always consider when you are going to use Runestrike before and during movement phases.

Rune of Travail

  • Powered Inscriptions talent allows Rune of Travail to refresh all 3 Seals once they are applied to the target. However, currently it still refreshes Seals regardless if this talent is used.
  • Rune of Travail allows all Seals to run close to its full duration, and saves up to 2gcd.
  • Also being an instant cast ability on a 6s cooldown, it is worth using during movement phases as it is a dps increase and stronger than “filler dps”.
  • Even though it does more damage than Runestrike, it is not worth using every 6s because it does not proc an ability, which is an overall dps loss.

Rune of Power

  • Allows Rune of Castigation to be instant cast, within 10s. Has a 30s cooldown.
  • This should be used in emergency situations, when you need a 3rd stack of Smiting Force and haven’t got a Rune of Castigation proc or Inscribed Fate or Rune of Soul Binding.
  • Do not delay in using it, you have 10s to use Rune of Castigation. It is best to use it straight away as you risk the chance of procing an instant cast Rune of Castigation via Runestrike, which when used will consume the Rune of Power buff, essentially wasting a free Rune of Castigation proc, giving you an overall dps loss.
  • During movement phases Rune of Power can be used if all other abilities are on cd/ lost Smiting Force stacks.
  • Can be useful also when switching targets to quickly build Smiting Force stacks.

Rune of Castigation

  • Is a 6s cast time ability and should be only used when proc’d. 5 Soultree points into Rapid Judgement gives a 30% chance of allowing Rune of Castigation to be proc via casting Runestrikes
  • Rune of Castigation gives 1 stack of Smiting Force.
  • With Rune of Power, can be instant casted.
  • When you get the proc you, you have 13 seconds to figure out when you need to recast it. So If you already have 3 Smiting Force stacks, you can save it until you consume those stacks. It is best if you have the proc to cast it immediately.
  • With 30% chance of proc, Smiting Force stacks should never fall off. If they do, quickly build it back up with Rune of Power.

Rune of Soulbinding

  • A 4s channeled high damage ability doing 5 ticks of damage. At the same time able to heal for 15% of maximum health. On a 45s cooldown
  • At the end of the cast you gain a 1 stack of Smiting Force.
  • You want to use Soulbinding everytime it comes off cd, if no procs are available, and have less than 3 Smiting Force and Hasty Inscription stacks with more than 8s on both stacks. This is so you allow enough time for the channel to complete and can cast runestrikes to refresh stacks. Can go lower in time.
  • Soulbinding is able to be channeled while moving. So anticipating movement mechanics and holding it for a few seconds is a dps boost. Hold back soulbinding for too long and it will be an overall dps loss.

Rune of Impending Doom

  • Applies 2 debuffs onto the target. Rune of Impending Doom and stacks of Impending Doom, which is increased by Runestrikes and Rune of Castigation. At 8s Rune of Impending Doom blows up along with the stacks of Impending Doom dealing XX damage with 40% additional damage of each stack of Impending Doom on the target.(bear with me)
  • At any one time you are able to achieve 7 stacks if only 1s gcd abilities are used. With building Hasty Inscription and Smiting Force and using Rune of Smiting, you will most likely to achieve an average of 4–6 stacks.
  • Rune of Impending Doom is best used right away, after you get the Runelord buff only. As this will allow stacks to be built quickly and efficiently. Using it outside this will be a dps loss, due to rng of Rune of Castigation procs.
  • You will notice that Rune of Impending Doom tooltip values and the damage it produces does not add up. It does as much damage as Seal of Pain during a fight. This is because of how low the initial damage of Rune of Impending Doom is. The 40% is based on the damage of Rune of Impending Doom with 0 Runeshaper talent points. So the 40% damage it adds per stack, is of a very low number. This is one of the main reasons why hybrids are better, as using Rune of Impending Doom waste a gcd, and talent points can be used elsewhere in subsouls to increase st dps.

Seals

  • Seal of Vulnerability can be applied to a target without causing aggro. It is applied first in any Runeshaper rotation and onto any target, you want to dps. Your target will take a 5% increase in damage from Runestrikes, Rune of Castigation and Rune of Smiting, causing an overall dps increase.
  • Seal of Pain is ST DOT
  • Seal of Enhancement gives an increase of 7% non-physical damage debuff. It is not worth applying it in raids as is overwritten by support debuffs. With talent Ensured Vulnerability, you are able to continuously spam this to purge 1 buff. This will probably be used in raid mechanics like sicaron-HK, ut at a dps loss.(this reminds of old beastmaster purge). Can be used in pve/solo/pvp content for extra damage.
  • Enduring Inscriptions talent increases duration of these Seals by 100% going from 15s to 30s.
  • Powered Inscription talent allows all Seals to be refreshed via casting Rune of Travail.
  • With the level 63 mastery Faith’s Freedom, all Seals can be applied at once, but you will only ever use Seal of Vulnerability and Seal of Pain in raids. When switching targets use both Seals, before building stacks.

Runelord Inscription

  • Runelord Inscription is activated once Runelord talent has 5/5 Soultree points. This is a 2min cooldown ability that gives you the Runelord buff for 15s, allowing for at least 2 fully buffed Rune of Smiting to be used.
  • Before using this ability apply Rune of Impending Doom, to allow for additional damage via Impending Doom stacks.
  • During raid cooldowns, you use Runelord Inscription and every 2min thereafter, regardless if you have the RNG Runelord proc, this is so you don’t delay it for the next cd block. If your fight is ending in less then 2 mins then you can use it after your RNG Runelord buff has worn off, so in theory a 25s buff.
  • During this proc you want to build both Smiting Force and Hasty Inscription stacks to max before using Rune of Smiting, as with having 1s gcd on abilities it is obtainable faster than without, and is a dps increase.
  • With Runelord buff active, Runeshaper becomes very mobile, as Runestrikes are instant cast, allowing for all your abilities to have 1s gcd.

Rune of Smiting

  • Our hardest hitting ability with a 3.5s cast time. It is instant cast at 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription and is buffed by 100% with each stack of Smiting Force for up to 3 stacks, giving a 300% boost in damage.
  • With 2 points in talent Hasty Inscription you reduce Rune of Smiting cast time by 0.5s. At 3 stacks, a cast time of 2s is achieved. You should never hard cast Rune of Smiting.
  • With 3 talent points in Rune layering, 30% of Rune of Smiting damage is done after 3 seconds. Building 3 Smiting Force stacks and having high crit chance, will severely increase this damage. Doing more damage than Rune of Impending doom at 5 stacks.
  • Have at least 1 stack of Smiting Force before Rune of Smiting.

Inscribe Fate

  • Our hardest instant cast ability outside of procs. With 8s cooldown
  • Used to build stacks of Smiting Force using Main spam macro
  • If you have 3 stacks of Smiting Force best not use the spam macro as this will be cast first, being a waste of Smiting Force stack. An extra keybind for Runestrike is used. You can take this outside of macro and cast it every 8s if you like.

Filler dps

  • Runeshaper is a Fire based soul, so using any fire abilities will have a boost in damage. Shaman is based on Ice and Water and Inquisitor on Life and Death. These souls provide abilities, that are filler dps. They are not part of your main rotation and should be used in situations where you don’t have abilities that procs, or on cooldown or can’t cast due to heavy movement. Using these is a form of keeping some of your dps. All abilities from Shaman and Inquisitor are all filler dps which are: Crushing Blow, Lightning Hammer, Massive Blow, Ekkehard’s Grasp, Vex.

Aoe dps

  • Aoe is not that particularly good, because of the low damage and area it affects. Runeshaper soul is mainly focused on st dps, but you do get 2 aoe abilities.
  • Runefall is a 7s channel, that targets 5 enemies inside its circular area
  • Greater Rune of Agony is a rectangular aoe that is placed at the feet of its enemies. If enemies stay within the rectangle, it will do damage over 15s, up to 8 enemies. Has a 30s cooldown. It is like the purifier’s firewall
  • Talent Agonizing Runefall increases the damage from Runefall by 100%
  • To best use this, you want tanks to bring all the mobs together. Use Greater Rune of Agony first and then Runefall. Keep casting Runefall until Greater Rune of Agony is active again to use. Repeat

Support

Greater Rune of Energy

  • A stationary rectangular aoe that restores 4% mana for 15s once inside.
  • Best used when mana becomes a problem for your raid/self. Because it only works with mana, you want to use it if you/party members have specs that have mana issues during intense raid mechanics.
  • Shares a 30s cooldown with other Greater Rune abilities.

Greater Rune of Mobility

  • A stationary rectangular aoe that allows speed to be increased by 30% for 4s, to any ally that passes through it. Also has a 30% slow for 4s to enemies that pass through it. Last 15s.
  • Talent Ensured Mobility allows allies to not be slowed as they run through it.
  • Placing it parallel (along your run path), you will get the buff as long as you run the length of it(inside aoe) and a further 4s, when you’re outside the aoe
  • Horizontal placement is best, if enemies are spread out to get maximum benefit of the 30% slow, or parallel if they are chasing you.
  • Shares a 30s cooldown with other Greater Rune abilities.

Utility

Greater Runes

  • All Greater Runes share a 30s with each other, so you have to decide whether you want raid energy (Greater Rune of Energy)/ movement (Greater Rune of Mobility), a snare (Greater Rune of Imprisonment) or aoe dps (Greater Rune of Agony)

Rune of Return

  • 50m teleport that removes crowd control effects. 30s cooldown.
  • Cast it where you would like to teleport to (set Rune of Return), making sure you are in line of sight at all times. Your Rune of Return ability will change it icon to Return to Rune where you now have 30s to use it. Return to Rune and set Rune to Return both have a 30s gcd. So once used you can set it and then say 10s seconds later return. Your set will be 10s ahead of your return, so you have to wait for return to be available.

Greater Rune of Imprisonment

  • Snares 10 enemies for 5s.
  • Shares a 30s cooldown with other Greater Rune abilities.

Rune Prison

  • Stun for 4s. 30s cooldown.

Rune of Inhibition

  • Interrupt. 10s cooldown.

Rotation

There is no set rotation, our 2 main “cooldown” abilities are Runelord Inscription(2mins) and Rune of Soul Binding(45s), which do not sync together. Runeshaper soul is mainly based on RNG so you might get lucky and get the Runelord buff during raid cooldown. Every 2mins we can however use Runelord Inscription to sync with raid cooldowns.

Our basic priority is to use Runestrike to build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription, during which Rune of Castigation will proc. Using a combination of Rune of Castigation, Inscribed Fate and Rune of Soul Binding, you build 3 stacks of Smithing Force. These stacks will amplify Rune of Smiting damage by 300% and become instant cast.

By casting many Runestrikess, we increase the chance of Runelord procs to occur to instant cast our Runestrikes and reduce gcd of abilities to 1s. This allows to ramp the necessary stacks quicker.

By building 2 sets of stacks to achieve high damage you have to efficiently prioritise on which ability you want to use next to build those necessary stacks.

The general Runeshaper rule is to try and build as many stacks of Smiting Force before your Hasty Inscription stacks using Runestrikes

Runeshaper General Priorities

Cast Runestrikes, to increase chance of Runelord buff
 V
Keep your Seals on your target, refresh by using Rune of Travail < 2s
 V
Rune of Soul Binding used when it’s off cooldown

Runelord Priorities

Runelord inscriptions/ Cast Runestrikes to increase chance of Runelord buff
 V
Keep your seals on your target, refresh by using Rune of Travail if seal <9s
 V
Rune of Impending doom when available
 V
Build 3 stacks of Smiting Force . Build with hasty inscription stacks in 1:1 ratio.
 V
Build 4 stacks of Hasty Inscription. Build with Smiting Force stacks in 1:1 ratio.

Opener

There are 2 rotations that i use for opening. Rotation 1 is the one i use most

Before any fight you want to:

Precast Runefall to get 2 stacks of diversify
 Precast Seal of Vulnerability

ST

Rotation 1

Seal of Pain> Inscribe Fath> Rune of Soul Binding> Rune of Impending Doom> Runelord’s Inscription> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Castigation> Rune Strike> Runestrike> Rune of Smiting> Inscribe Fath> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Castigation> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Power + Rune of Castigation> Rune of Smiting> Inscribe Fath> Rune of Travail> Maintain Seals + stacks based on priority, if movement melee/range use SoulStream first then spam macro

  • This rotation quickly builds stacks of Smiting Force, allowing for quicker Rune of Smiting to be used
  • Able to sync Runelord’s Inscription with raid cd
  • Has Soul Stream available for movement if needed

Rotation 2 — with soulstream

Seal of Pain>Inscribe Fath> SoulStream> Rune of Soul Binding> Rune of Impending Doom> Runelord’s Inscription> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Castigation> Rune Strike> Runestrike> Rune of Smiting> Inscribe Fath> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Castigation> Runestrike> Runestrike> Rune of Power + Rune of Castigation> Rune of Smiting> Inscribe Fath> Rune of Travail> Maintain Seal + stacks based on priority, if movement melee/range use spam macro

  • If you want to use soulbinding at start of raid cooldowns or u want to get into position use ss first.
  • this will put ur runelords inscription towards the end of first cooldown set before 2nd set of cooldowns are used. Hence Runelord is still affected by buff and will be for every 2mins.
  • At 1min both Soul Sream and and Rune of Soulbinding will be up to use if you dont have procs/ movement

Swapping targets

Get seals and dots up as quick as you can > Use Instant Rune of Castigation macro to quickly get a stack of Smiting Force> Spam Main Macro and into Runeshaper priority

AOE

Use Greater Rune of Agony, where majority of mobs are grouped up, then spam Aoe macro (Runefall), until you need to reapply Greater Rune of Agony again.

Keybinds

Best to use a separate key for Runestrike. This is because during Runelord proc you don’t want to waste a gcd by using Inscribe Fate in the macro.

Other ST dps abilities to keybind separately to have greater control:

  • Rune of Castigation
  • Rune of Smiting
  • Rune of Soul Binding
  • Rune of Impending Doom
  • Rune of Travail
  • All Seals
  • Soul Stream

Others

  • All Support/Utility
  • Greater Rune of Agony

FAQ

Why is the hybrid 51Runeshaper/17Shaman/8Inquistor hybrid better than RuneFury(61Runeshaper) damage?
 Damage

  • With 51, points into Runeshaper you get all the important talent points and abilities allocated within the Runeshaper soul, allowing for higher st dps to be achieved.
  • At higher tiers more of the abilities are utilities and not required.
  • The support abilities Greater Rune of Energy,Greater Rune of Mobility are not needed either, as end game content does not require them, actual supports spec fill this role better.
  • Our 61 point ability Rune of Impending Doom is very weak. It does as much damage damage as Seal of Pain over a fight. It is a waste of gcd and is a dps loss to use it.
  • Going 17 points into Shaman and 8 into Inquisitor, we pick up talents that help Runeshaper ST damage with, Cold Blooded; 8% increase in damage and Planar Study a 5% increase in Spell Power respectively.

Mobility

  • With RuneFury, you get Ekkehard’s Grasp, Massive Blow, Lightning Hammer, Ride the Lightning and Vex, which should help with mobility issues, but because Runeshaper soul is mainly a focus on ST dps, going into 61points is a dps loss. Whereas, the hybrid is a dps increase, with an extra option for mobility dps with Sanction Heretic. Level 63 mastery; Faith’s Freedom will apply both Vex and Sanction Heretic together.

Why is the hybrid Runeshaper 47Runeshaper/17Shamn/12Inquisitor hybrid better than RuneFury (61Runeshaper) damage?
Exactly the same reason as 51. It also doesn’t lose damage points as 5% damage increase from Inscribed power is replace with 5% damage increase from Corporal Punishment in Inquisitor Soultree, and has a very useful ability double purge.

Where is the guide for 51Runeshaper/17Shaman/8Inquisitor and 47Runeshaper/17Shaman/12Inquisitor?

What other hybrids are out there?

What is minimum points needed for hybrid?
 40

Can i use RuneFury for levelling/soloing?
Yes to both, but will be very hard as endurance in this spec is low. Using a hybrid is better.

What happens if Rune of Soul Binding and Runelord is up at same time?
During gameplay Rune of Soulbinding might be available when RNG Runelord buff shows up. Using the Runelord buff first is best, as it generates more dps.

Can the opener rotation be used in the 51/47 hybrids?
Yes take out abilities that you do not have. In this case, Rune of Impending Doom. Core concept is the same in all Runeshaper specs.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
