Gumbo Cook off hosted by Freight — September 15, 6 PM

On August 12th, rain started to pour down on the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana. The rain continued for 2 solid days. This resulted in 20–30 inches of rainfall in various surrounding areas of the city which has devastated the area. Thirteen people perished due to the flood and more fortunate people are still left but without their homes.

Atlanta was not touched by this storm. This city has been lucky. We just missed tropical storm Hermine as well. So, being lucky does not mean we should be apathetic. It should make use say, “How can we help?” Right? RIGHT!

How can restaurants in downtown Woodstock GA help? Well, host a gumbo cook off, that’s how!

Come to Freight Kitchen & Tap along with other civic minded local restaurants on September 15th at 6 PM and donate to the cause by sampling the best gumbos you have ever had. Each restaurant will provide their best gumbo. Judges will decide which one is the best of the best.

There will be serious competition this year so everyone needs to bring their A game. While the judging will be tough, it is a pretty great job to have!
