A look at our latest advisors — Chad Eichelberger and Ronald Ramsey
As you may have seen in our latest announcement, we have taken on and would like to once again welcome our new advisor, Chad Eichelberger. Both Chad and our existing advisor, Ronald Ramsey, have an impressive background in logistics, and particularly freight brokerage. We’ll take a closer look at them both here.
Chad Eichelberger
Chad got his start in transport and logistics between 2001–2004 when he obtained a BS in Logistics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. In 2004 he moved to Chattanooga, TN, due to his wife getting a job at Fortune 500 company C.H. Robinson, a provider of freight transportation, brokerage and warehousing. At the same time, Chad got his own entry into the world of Chattanooga logistics by doing a year as a Transportation Manager at RaceTrac Petroleum, before his move over to Access America Transport (AAT) as a Logistics Manager in 2005 — which he claims placed him as just the 7th employee at AAT.
Over the course of the next 5 years, Chad moved up to Director of Business Development, to Vice President, before finally ending up as President of AAT. Founders Allan Davis, Ted Alling, and Barry Large were so impressed with Chad’s performance as President that they eventually went on to pursue different interests while leaving him largely in charge of the company. By 2012, having been founded just 10 years prior, AAT became a Top 10 US domestic freight broker, with Chad being hailed as responsible for much of their later success — under his wing the company grew from $52 million to $500 million.

The winds of change howled in by 2014, when Coyote Logistics, a freight brokerage giant, acquired and merged with AAT for over $260 million, creating a combined company at the time with a run rate revenue of $2 billion, and roughly 1750 employees and 40,000 contracted carriers. Naturally, Chad was installed as President of Brokerage at Coyote, leading the company right alongside Coyote CEO Jeff Silver, where he remained for just over a year. In 2015, Coyote was acquired by UPS in a staggering $1.8 billion deal, where it continues to operate as a subsidiary company.

Currently he has settled in as President at Reliance Partners, where he leads sales and operations. Reliance Partners is also based in Chattanooga, and specializes in commercial insurance products, with a particular focus on trucking companies, third-party logistics providers, and warehousing operations.
Having only been with us for a few days at the time of writing, Chad has already managed to help onboard a new broker to use Freight Trust.
Ronald Ramsey
Ronald has no less of a brain for logistics; however, before his lifelong passion for it began, he served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps (Oorah!). Once he left the Marines, he made his start in transport by becoming a Sales Manager at Unishippers, then as a Customer Service Manager at Xpress Direct, and finally moving on to Access America Transport himself in 2007. He began as a Sales Manager, and worked his way up the ladder via several roles, including Branch Manager and Regional Vice President, ending up as Executive Vice President in 2013. Here he also crossed paths with Chad Eichelberger.
Following the AAT merger and acquisition by Coyote, Ronald’s Executive Vice Presidency shifted him over to the newly expanded company, where he continued working side-by-side with Chad and was also instrumental in driving Coyote’s growth and development forward to the eventual $1.8 billion acquisition by UPS.

In October 2017, Ronald made the leap to his current position as Chief Commercial Officer at Reliance Partners, where he oversees sales and marketing operations. He has now been an advisor to us at Block Array since May 2018, in which time he has already given us valuable insights into the logistics and trucking industries, and we’re more than excited to have him onboard going forward.
Together, Chad and Ronald bring years of experience in logistics and trucking to Block Array, as well as the business acumen of taking promising startups and turning them into giants in their fields. What’s even better for us is that they’re both local to the Chattanooga area, meaning they’re never out of reach and can act as true advisors to us — something many other projects can’t say.
