Fundraising Ideas For Charities

Our world appears to be breaking at the seams these days. Temperatures are rising, poverty is expanding, and selfish people are making it difficult for the less fortunate to get by. But it’s not all doom and gloom! There are people out there who care, and who want to help make the world a better place.

Charities — and in particular, charitable foundations — have been around since the Middle Ages, but we’ve really only seen a boom in their popularity and development in the last few centuries. Now, there’s a charity for just about everything. So why haven’t all our world’s problems been solved yet?

The answer, of course, is that charities need money to function. They rely on the generosity of donors to keep their doors open and their programs running. And that’s where fundraising comes in. If you’re running a charity, or you want to make a donation, let’s take a look at some of the best (and most popular) ways to raise money for good causes.

1. Public Events

Remember when the local Girl Scouts used to come knocking on your door, selling cookies? That’s one form of public event fundraising. But there are other, more creative ways to get the public involved (and invested) in your charity.

One popular method is holding a concert or performance, with all proceeds going to the charity. This could be anything from a school talent show to a major celebrity headlining an arena. You could also host a gala dinner, an art exhibition, or even a sports tournament.

Another great option is to hold a bake sale, car wash, or garage sale. This is a fantastic way to get the community involved, and it’s also a great opportunity to promote your charity and raise awareness for its cause.

2. Online Donations

In today’s digital age, more and more people are doing their shopping and banking online. So why not make donating to charity as easy as possible?

There are numerous platforms that allow you to set up a donation page for your charity. Just share the link with your friends, family, and social media followers, and watch the donations come rolling in.

3. Corporate Partnerships

Corporations have an enormous amount of influence within our society. They also have a lot of money! So it makes sense to partner with them if you’re looking to raise funds for your charity.

Many companies are happy to support charities, and there are a few different ways they can do so. They may donate a percentage of their profits, sponsor an event, or simply offer their employees paid leave to volunteer for the charity.

There are plenty of corporate charity partnerships to draw inspiration from:

  • Deloitte, one of the world’s largest professional services firms, is actively running the ‘5 Million Futures’ program. Their aim is to help 5 million people achieve their goals through education and employment. In 2022, the firm is partnering with 12 different charities around the world to make this happen.
  • Gillette raises money every year to support Movember, a charity that aims to improve men’s health. The company gives out free razors to people taking part in Movember; they also donate a portion of their profits to the cause.
  • Sainsbury’s, a UK supermarket chain, has been partnering with Comic Relief since 1999. They’ve raised over £130 million for the charity, which tackles poverty and social injustice.

If your charity gathers enough traction, you may even be able to get a major corporation on board. The trick is to market yourself well, pitch yourself persuasively, and most of all, prove that your charity is transparent and trustworthy.

4. NFTs and Digital Assets

This is a newer fundraising method, but it’s one that’s growing in popularity. NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are digital assets that can’t be replaced by something else. They’re unique, and they often have value attached to them.

Some charities are using NFTs to auction off digital art, experiences, or even one-of-a-kind physical items. The bidding process is all done online, and the funds go straight to the charity.

And of course, it’d be remiss of us not to mention how The Frisky Croc fits into all of this!

The Frisky Croc Initiative

We’re a female-led, charity-focused NFT project, and we’re committed to helping out as many good causes as possible. Our work is only just getting started, but we’re already teaming up with charity: water to help them provide clean water to communities in need.

Forty percent of the proceeds from each Frisky Croc sold on OpenSea will go to our partner charity. Not only that, but for every $20 donated to charity: water, donors will receive a FREE Winter Edition Frisky Croc. Pretty snappy, huh?

Help Someone In Need

However you decide to raise funds — whether you’re supporting a charity, or you run one yourself — you’re sure to make a difference in someone’s life. And that’s what counts the most.

Even the smallest action helps. If you aren’t sure how to get started, why not begin with a $20 donation to charity: water? They’re one of the world’s leading clean water charities, and they’re doing amazing work to provide communities in need with this essential resource.

(Plus, you’ll get one of the grooviest-looking crocs on OpenSea as a thank-you!)
