Different Aspects of Military Ration
Discover the Different Aspects of the Military Ration — MRE
First off, you may be asking what MRE stands for and what it is; the answer is Meal, Ready to Eat, and they are the modern day field rations supplied to the US Military. MREs are long life, pre-packed, lightweight, and compact rations used to keep soldiers who are on military field operation missions fully nourished when field kitchens are not a possibility.

In areas that are war-stricken or simply so remote food is hard to come by, MREs are absolutely invaluable..The importance of keeping military personnel fully fit and healthy cannot be understated and this level of combat readiness can only be achieved if individuals are eating properly. This is why, just like regular food, MREs have all the daily requirements of vitamins and minerals that military personnel will need.
Every specially prepared MRE meal is packed into a vacuum sealed airtight container which will maintain the high quality of each meal and keep them as fresh as the day they were made. Because of the vacuum sealing MRE packs compress in size and are very compact and very light and are even small enough to be carried in a large pocket.
These specially made meals are responsible for helping keep soldiers at the peak of their abilities even during the most trying of times.
Military MREs — Nutritional Content
As already stated, the primary purpose of an MRE is to provide the necessary nourishment required to re-energize tired soldiers, and as such they are packed full of nutrients that will do exactly that.

Each military MRE will contain around 1250 calories on average and have a composition of about 51% carbs, 36% fats, 13% proteins, and about a third of the daily recommended intake of vitamins and minerals. All MRE meals supplied to the military have been approved and certified by the US Surgeon General, basically a stamp of approval guaranteeing their efficiency and their safety.
Military MRE’s have been designed so they can be consumed when they are either hot or cold, although they are much tastier and far more appealing when they have been heated. Heating up an MRE may not always be possible, or safe, to do when a soldier is in the field of operation. When in the field, a soldier can use whatever time they may have to quickly open up an MRE and nourish themselves without having to worry about heating it through. This is a huge benefit.
