great job internet?

After the relative triumph of the Phantom Menace edit, I thought I’d give this a go. Oh dear. Sadly, while it’s possible to edit Jar Jar Binks’ role in Phantom Menace to about 3 subtitled lines (if that) without harming the plot in any way, there’s not much that can be done about the steaming dog egg that is Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker without turning this into a three-minute silent movie of a wrinkled Kermit impressionist. It’s probably unfair to say Christensen can’t act, but to call his glassy-eyed rendition of lines in this film “acting” would be stretching the definition beyond the point of all meaning; like saying someone throwing a carrier bagful of spoons off a roof was performing percussion, or a tramp having a piss against a bin was doing painting. And Ewan McGregor isn’t any better. As for the action sequences, they’d be more convincing and immersive if they were animated, stop-motion style, on a broken Etch-a-Sketch.

I do feel like there’s maybe a decent story in the prequels, but I don’t think it can actually be made out the filmed material that we’ve got.

Tweets I faved

Just this:

Still working my way through Order of the Phoenix. I think the writing’s definitely better, but the books are taking longer to get to the point.
