AO3 Publishing: A Basic Guide

Archive of Our Own — that is what AO3 stands for.

I have been introduced to his platform when I was fifteen — a platform made for fanfiction (and original works), for authors and readers alike. I read extensively on it, before deciding to try my hand at publishing a couple of fictions.

I made an account in 2019 and have been posting religiously on it ever since. In the span of three and a half years, I’ve written and posted 57 works and 2 million words on there.

Why Should You Publish on AO3?

If you’re a fanfiction writer, then AO3 is most definitely the platform for you!

It is one of the most widely-used fanfiction sites, alongside Wattpad and Fanfiction.net. It helps you get your work out to a crazy number of people.

Not only that, but its interface is intuitive, for both readers and writers. It’s easy to tag, and also to get suggested tags. It also has a rating and warning system — so that you can inform other readers whether your story contains mature or explicit themes.
