When you live off-grid or partially off-grid or even if you simply care about making the most of what is special about our planet, you may have strong connections to nature, especially the seasons.

I am quite obsessed with the weather. My weather app is opened (several times) daily and I enjoy interpreting graphs, numbers and little icons.

If it’s rainy, you know it’s a good time to do the washing, the water tanks won’t miss the litres you steal from them to keep your clothing clean. You know the garden will benefit without the need for the water tank to feed the soil. There’s always the opportunity to hang the wet washing under the veranda, even if the skies are full of watery goodness.

When it’s sunny, you can practically inhale the sunshiney loveliness as it fills up the solar panels, stores some extra and showers shiny rays beneficently upon the plants.

Wind is a wonderful chance for dry clothing, watching it billow on our Hills Hoist Washing line, is a form of meditation for me. I swear th goodness the clothes feel cleaner with the air whipping through the fibres.

Since living remotely, my interest in the weather has increased dramatically. I am constantly thinking about how to organise the daily chores around the wind, water, and sun rays. I become more present in my life, because weather-wise, every day has something about it that adds to our lifestyle. Similarly without paying attention I could miss a day that could really be useful for some type of planting, reaping, or weeding activity.

I’m not quite sure about fog though..
