2016 SAE Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technologies Symposium

Last week, Caltech Racing helped represent the SAE SoCal Section at the 2016 SAE Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technologies Symposium in Anaheim, CA at the Disneyland Hotel. This three-day conference was filled with great discussions about current and upcoming technologies in the automotive industry from most major vehicle and battery OEMs. Caltech Racing was located in the Exhibit Hall of the Symposium, allowing us to showcase our work thus far along with the big industry players such as Ford, Toyota, Honda, and LG Chem.

Attending the event helped our design progress and helped us gain visibility in industry. However, it also helped us progress our overall goals to promote the next generation of sustainable vehicles. As a student team, we aim to develop our engineering skills while designing and building a competitive race car, but we are also looking to broaden and improve the awareness among students and the general public of the advantages of electric vehicles. By pushing the boundaries of innovation to develop a new generation of sustainable, efficient, and fast vehicles, we hope to help engineer a better world.
