This procedure is useful if the password protecting access to your wallet is compromised. There are many reasons for this. For example: you disclosed it by mistake, an old friend knows your password, etc.
On the other hand, it only applies to wallets in version 0.6.x or higher (mnemonics).
WARNING:
if you have lost or forgotten your password, this procedure is useless. It will not allow you to overwrite an unknown password.
1°/ Requierements
- Your current password
- Have goXdagWallet 0.6.x or later.
2°/ Retrieve mnemonics
- Connect to your wallet.
- Enter your current password and click “Confirm”.
- On main screen, click “Export Mnemonic” button.
- Enter again your current password.
Browse to a folder where you want to record mnemonic file. For example your windows desktop, and click “Save” button.
goXdagWallet will inform you that the mnemonic file have been successfully exported.
And then the file will appear on your desktop.
3°/ Remove old ‘xdagj_dat’ folder
- Open file explorer, and go to your wallet folder.
- Select “xdagj_dat” folder and delete it.
4°/ Import the mnemonics
- Launch goXdagWallet.
- Select “Create or Import Wallet”.
- Select “Import Mnemonic” and click “Confirm”.
- Then browse to the folder containing mnemonic backup file, select it, and click “Open”.
5°/ Set the new password
- Now it’s time to give new password (twice).
- Mission accomplished : the wallet has opened, and your password has been replaced. Congratulations !
