NISMYPro is pleased to introduce the inaugural edition of the YPro RoundUp. This newsletter will be published every two months and will highlight our projects, activities and members. We invite your suggestions comments and tips. Please share with friends and colleagues.

Many people have asked what our vision is. Some with scepticism and some with genuine curiosity. How will a think-tank called Nigerians in the Square Mile, based in London have any affect on Nigeria? What can truly be achieved. Well, the answer is nothing. Nothing without an equally as driven, passionate and unified membership, working towards our goals with us!

The idea and motivation behind this subgroup is simple. Who best to tackle problems and propose workable, market-driven solutions other than professionals? Who best to herald us into becoming a top 20 economy by 2050 other than us, young professionals, full of great ideas, intelligence, pride and ambition; the generation who will lead that top 20 economy!

Nigerians in the square mile is so much more than what happens in the city of London, it was birthed here, but is by no means confined by its title. We are a network of professional Nigerians based both here and in Nigeria and are devoted to improving connections and dialogues between both groups.

As a think-tank we plan to be the first to bring together Nigerian professionals globally to work towards actionable, sustainable and relevant solutions, which in total bring together over 100’s of years of industry experience.

As a subgroup, we plan to be the first to welcome young Nigerians into these dialogues, across all sectors, whether it be media, music, literature, engineering, medicine, law or finance; it’s important that young Nigerians help shape the future we are expected to lead. Build industries and invest in a better, well organised and sustainable Nigeria.

Through this newsletter, and our various other initiatives, such as our focus groups, conferences, podcasts, video and blog posts; we want to show and prove that we can be driven in our careers, and still contribute to the development of the Nigerian community both here and at home. We don’t only plan to inform, but to empower and inspire each other through progressing in our careers and thought-provoking necessary dialogues on how to improve Nigeria and then go ahead and do it!

Our main aims are twofold. We want to encourage young professional Nigerians to ThinkAct and ThinkDo.

ThinkDo? Exchange human capital and through this address the brain drain, by building upon our experience both here and in Nigeria.

ThinkAct? Invest in projects which primarily focus on our research framework [Insert link to framework] and draw upon the more senior members in terms of direction and execution.

Ultimately, we want to be the first to give you a clear reason to why you should even care about Nigeria at all.

By joining us, together we can use our expertise and diversity of experience, to innovate and work towards impactful solutions to Nigeria’s challenges and do so while also kicking arse at work!

I look forward to working with you all.
